Bank robbery suspect arrested after pursuit

From staff reports

A Santa Maria man was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly robbed a Moorpark bank and led police on a pursuit into Los Angeles County, authorities said.

Jesse James Salinas, 53, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Porter Ranch after Ventura County Sheriff's Deputies and California Highway Patrol officers forced his vehicle to stop, according to a statement released by the Sheriff's department late last night.

Salinas was booked into Ventura County Jail on suspicion of robbing the Bank of America at 510 Los Angeles Avenue in Moorpark and evading an officer.

Salinas allegedly walked into the bank about 3:46 p.m., brandished a gun and demanded money from the teller, according to the Sheriff's department. A witness saw him leave the bank in a car after the teller handed over an undisclosed amount of money.

A Sheriff's deputy driving southbound on Highway 23 noticed the car the witness had described, and a pursuit ensued when the vehicle refused to stop.

When the chase ended, Salinas was identified as the bank robbery suspect and arrested.

The FBI identified him as the suspect in a number of other bank robberies on the South and Central coast, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Could have been his father that gave him that name. His dad might be named William Bonney. roflmao
