California Kitchen Creations in Ventura is a growing company that prides itself on quality and service.
William Howard, who owns the business along with his wife, Peggy, has been in the construction business for many years and got his general contractor's license in 1994. In 2001, the couple decided to open up their own cabinetry business and it's been growing ever since.
"We've never had a bad year," says Peggy.
The company does 80 projects in an average year, 50 kitchens and 30 bathrooms. To reflect their growth and better serve their clients, the Howards opened a 2,000 square-foot showroom in January 2007.
California Kitchen Creations owes its success to such factors as quality, customer service and design technology.
The Howards employ their own team of 10 workmen who perform all the installations and construction work.
That means the Howards rarely have to subcontract work out, so they know the workers they use are highly professional, well-trained and courteous.
"Our crew are run in-house," Peggy says, "so we have control over things."
California Kitchen Creations offers the services of their own interior designer, Mary Mendenhall.
Mendenhall, hired last year, works with clients to choose the right cabinetry and hardware for their tastes and helps with space planning.
Peggy says that California Kitchen Creations cabinets are extremely high-quality because they feature catalyzed conversion lacquer, which is a long-lasting and highly durable finish that's not widely available in California.
The Howards bring in all their cabinetry from out-of-state.
Plus, the Howards provide their clients with a high-tech feature that allows them to see the way their room will look when finished. Measurements, cabinet choices and materials are entered into a software program called 20/20, and clients can get a 3-D preview of their finished kitchen or bathroom.
Peggy Howard says that the average timeline for a kitchen to completed by a California Kitchen Creations team is six weeks; four weeks for a bathroom.
California Kitchen Creations does more than just kitchens and bathrooms, though. They also put together offices, playrooms, entertainment centers, custom desks and hutches, garage interiors, closets and just about any other project that calls for cabinets.
From remodels and renovations to projects for brand-new homes, the people at California Kitchen Creations have professionalism and quality on their side.
Potential clients can see examples of their work at the showroom, at 3367 Telegraph Road in Ventura, or on its Web site at www.cakitchencreations.com.
The Howards don't see themselves slowing down any time soon, but, Peggy jokes, "We'll probably build furniture when we retire, as a hobby."
