Olympian Mendoza returns to Camarillo

Jessica Mendoza, the Olympic gold medalist, will be the featured speaker at Camarillo Girls Softball Association opening ceremonies today at 6 p.m. at Mission Oaks Park.

Mendoza, a standout at Camarillo High and Stanford, is a product of the Camarillo girls' league.

Opening games will be played Saturday morning.

McKechnie signs with UCLA

Hannah McKechnie, a midfielder/striker on three CIF-SS Division V championship teams at Oaks Christian School, has signed a letter of intent to play at UCLA.

McKechnie attends Camarillo High.

She plays club soccer for Southern California Olympic Development team, and helped the squad win Premier League, Surf Cup and Super CYSA championships last year.

BOYS' BASKETBALL

St. Bonaventure game repeats on cable TV

Last Friday's St. Bonaventure High playoff victory over Desert will be repeated by Time Warner Cable through its On Demand digital service throughout Southern California.

It's the first time a local Ventura County "Game of the Week" has been placed on Time Warner's on-demand service for the entire region.

The CIF-Southern Section Division V-A game is available by going to Channel 1 and clicking on "On Demand" and then "Community Events." The game is available through Thursday. The game will also be shown on Channel 36 at 11 p.m. Friday and at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
