Santa Monica Mountains Ride Map
Distance: 93.1-mile loop.
Highlights: A variety of narrow, twisty, scenic roads that cover the Santa Monica Mountains from one end to the other. Most of the roads are lightly traveled and there are panoramic views from both sides of the ridge line.
Motorcycle hotspots: The Rock Store on Mulholland Highway and Neptune's Net on Pacific Coast Highway.
Starting point: Mugu Rock on Pacific Coast Highway/Highway 1, 2.9 miles southeast of Las Posas Road and Highway 1.
Ride Directions:
There is only one gas station on this route and it is a 76 station on Pacific Coast Highway and Corral Canyon Road at about 36 miles.
- From Mugu Rock head southeast on Pacific Coast Highway toward Malibu.
- Left on Deer Creek Road at 4.7 miles.
- Becomes Pacific View Road at 7.3 miles.
- Right on Cotharin Road at 8.7 miles miles.
- Left on Yerba Buena Road at 10.7 miles.
- Becomes Little Sycamore Canyon Road at 16.9 miles.
- Left on Mulholland Highway at 18.3 miles.
- Right on Decker Road at 18.7 miles.
- Left on Lechusa Road at 19.6 miles.
- Left on Encinal Canyon Road at 19.7 miles.
- Right on Mulholland Highway at 23.1 miles.
- Right on Kanan Dume Road at 24.0 miles.
- Left on Latigo Canyon Road at 24.5 miles.
- Left on Pacific Coast Highway at 34.7 miles.
- Left on Malibu Canyon Road 37.6 miles.
- Right on Piuma Road at 42.2 miles.
- Left on Schueren Road at 48.7 miles.
- Right on Saddle Peak Road 50.4 miles.
- Left on Tuna Canyon Road at 53.7 miles (unmarked T intersection when I went through).
- Becomes Fernwood Pacific Drive at 55.3 miles.
- Left on Topanga Canyon Boulevard at 56.4 miles.
- Left on Old Topanga Canyon Road at 56.9 miles.
- Left on Mulholland Highway (which you stay on until Pacific Coast Highway) at 62.6 miles.
- Cross Las Virgenes Road at 70.1 miles.
- The Rock Store is at 75.9 miles.
- Cross Kanan Road at 78.8 miles.
- Veer right at 79.8 miles to stay on Mulholland Highway.
- Right on Pacific Coast Highway at 91.4 miles.
- Neptune's Net is at 93.1 miles and the end of the ride.
