Distance: 87-mile round trip.

Highlights: The burger is a good reason for this ride. The Jalama burger, which the restaurant says is world famous and Sunset magazine gives high praise, is a must for burger lovers. The ride itself is a back roads paradise with plenty of twists, light traffic and great scenery.

Motorcycle hotspots: Cold Spring Tavern is just off Highway 154.

Starting point: Starting point is approximately 65 miles N/W of Ventura at Highway 154 and Foxen Canyon Road in Los Olivos. Check out rides 2 and 11 for roads other than the freeway for getting to Los Olivos.

Ride Directions:

  • From the south side of Highway 154 and Foxen Canyon Road take an immediate right on Ballard Canyon Road.
  • Turn right, staying on Ballard Canyon Road, at 5.1 miles.
  • Right on Highway 246 at 7.1 miles.
  • In Buellton, cross over Highway 101 and turn left on Avenue of Flags at 8.0 miles.
  • Becomes Santa Rosa Road at 8.8 miles.
  • Left on Cabrillo Highway/Highway 1 at 25.2 miles.
  • Right on Jalama Road at 27.9 miles.
  • Jalama Beach County Park is at 42.0 miles. Parking is $5.
  • The restaurant is inside the Jalama Beach Store at 42.1 miles.
  • Back to Cabrillo Highway and turn right at 56.3 miles.
  • Left on northbound Highway 101/El Camino Real at 69.9 miles.
  • Right on Old Coast Highway at Nojoqui Park exit at 73.4 miles.
  • Left on Alisal Road at 74.3 miles toward Nojoqui Park.
  • In Solvang, turn right on Mission Drive/Highway 246 at 81.5 miles.
  • Left on Alamo Pintado Road at 82.1 miles.
  • Right at 86.0 miles staying on Alamo Pintado Road.
  • Left on Grand Avenue at 86.1 miles.
  • Highway 154 in Los Olivos, and the end of the ride is at 87.0 miles.
