Four Countries Ride Map

Distance: 160-mile loop.

Highlights: Some of the best roads anywhere and very light traffic. These roads consist of twists, sweepers and whoop-de-doos surrounded by scenic countryside.

Motorcycle hotspots: Deer Lodge, Half Way Station, The Place and Camp Scheideck.

Starting Point:Deer Lodge, 2261 Maricopa Highway at Alvarado Avenue, 805-646-4256. Breakfast served from 8am Saturday and Sunday, and from 10am Monday through Friday.

Ride Directions:

  • From the Deer Lodge, turn left on Highway 33 toward Maricopa.
  • The Half Way Station is at 38.0 miles. Besides food and drink, it has a rest area.
  • The Place is at 48.0 miles and has the coldest drinks in four counties.
  • Right on Highway 166 at 55.6 miles.
  • Right on Cerro Noroeste Road at 60.1 miles. This is a great road for the next 24 miles.
  • Becomes Mil Potrero Highway at 81.4 miles.
  • Pine Mountain Club (gas and food) at 84.0 miles. The Texaco station is the last gas until Ojai. The Bear Cafe, behind the Pine Mountain Auto Center and Texaco station has good food.
  • Continue on Mil Potrero Highway.
  • Left on Cuddy Valley Road at 89.6 miles. To the right takes you to the summit of Mount Pinos, the highest point in Ventura County.
  • Right on Lockwood Valley Road at 94.7 miles. Good whoop-de-doos and curves ahead.
  • The turnoff for Camp Scheideck is at 118.0 miles. If you've never been, it is worth driving the 1.5 miles. There is food and drink.
  • Back at Lockwood Valley Road, turn left at 121.3 miles.
  • The road crosses Reyes Creek (flooded during heavy rains) at 122.7 miles.
  • Left on Highway 33 at 124.8 miles.
  • The Deer Lodge is at 160.6 miles.
