Two Missions
Distance: 113-mile loop.
Highlights: From the sea to the mountains and back on winding and twisting roads. Panoramic views of Santa Barbara, coast, Channel Islands and surrounding mountains. Scenic tree-lined roads with many big beautiful homes. Two of the California missions.
Motorcycle hotspots: Cold Spring Tavern.
Starting Point: East Main Street at Dos Caminos Avenue, east of Five Points in Ventura. The nearby Side Car Restaurant, 3029 E. Main St., Ventura, 805-653-7433, is open from 11 to 3 for lunch and 5 to 9 for dinner.
Ride Directions:
- Start out travelling west on Main Street.
- San Buenaventura Mission is on the right at 2.6 miles.
- Right on Ventura Avenue at 2.8 miles.
- Cross under Highway 33 at 6.6 miles.
- Cross under Highway 33 again at 7.9 miles.
- Left on Casitas Vista Road and again cross under Highway 33 at 8.2.
- Right on Santa Ana Road at 8.8 miles.
- Real Western Beef Jerky at the Corner Store at 12.1 miles.
- Left on Highway 150/Casitas Pass Road at 14.6 miles.
- Right Highway 192/Casitas Pass Road at 26.5 miles.
- Becomes Highway 192/Foothill Road at 29.5 miles.
- Right on HIghway 192/Foothill Road at 32.9 miles, left is Nidever Road.
- Becomes Highway 192/Toro Canyon Road at 34.4 miles.
- Right on Ladera Lane at 35.5 miles.
- Left (no choice) on Bella Vista Drive at 36.4 miles.
- Becomes Park Lane at 38.6 miles.
- Stay left at 39.6 miles when Park Lane goes right and left.
- Right on Highway 192/East Valley Road at 40.0 miles.
- Right San Ysidro Road at 40.8 miles. There's gas here.
- Left on East Mountain Drive at 41.6 miles.
- Stay right on East Mountain Drive at 42.1 miles.
- Becomes West Mountain Drive at 44.8 miles.
- Right (sharp right) on Gibraltar Road at 47.7 miles.
- Becomes East Camino Cielo at 54.2 miles. The next 9 miles is rough and has lots of pot holes.
- Stay on East Camino Cielo at Painted Cave Road and 63.3 miles.
- Cross Highway 154/San Marcos Pass Road and turn right on Stagecoach Road at 65.4 miles.
- This old stagecoach route takes you to Cold Spring Tavern at 67.4 miles.
- Cold Spring Tavern is a great place for food and drink, and there are lots of motorcycles on weekends.
- Backtrack on Stagecoach Road to Highway 154/San Marcos Pass Road.
- Right on Highway 154/San Marcos Pass Road at 69.4 miles.
- Right on San Marcos Road at 71.6 miles and continue down the old stage route.
- Left on Cathedral Oaks Road at 75.2 miles.
- Cross under Highway 154/San Marcos Pass Road at 77.2 miles.
- Right on Mission Canyon Road at 80.3 miles.
- Right on Los Olivos Street at 80.8 miles.
- Right on Laguna Avenue and park to visit Santa Barbara Mission.
- Left from parking onto Los Olivos Street.
- Right on Alameda Padre Serra at 81.1 miles.
- There is a roundabout at 83.5 miles and you want to take the third street to the right to stay on Alameda Padre Serra.
- Becomes Alston Road at 84.2 miles.
- Stay on Alston Road until it becomes Hot Springs Road at 85.6 miles.
- Left on Hot Springs Road at 85.9 miles. Right is Olive Mill Road.
- Right on School House Road at 86.1 miles.
- Right on San Ysidro Road at 86.7 miles.
- Left on Santa Rosa Lane at 86.9 miles.
- Left on San Leandro Lane at 87.6 miles.
- Right on Sheffield Drive at 88.4 miles.
- Left on Ortega Hill Road at 88.6 miles.
- Hungry or need gas? Summerland has both at 89.2 miles. The Nugget on the left at 89.4 miles has patio dinning.
- Santa Barbara Harley-Davidson is at 92.3 miles.
- Right over Highway 101 at 93.9 miles.
- Left on Carpinteria Avenue at 94.1 miles.
- Stay on Carpinteria Avenue through town until it ends at 96.9 miles. If you're still hungry, you'll pass the World Famous Surfdogs stand at 96.1 miles.
- Get on Highway 101 southbound.
- Exit Seacliff/Pacific Coast Highway at 101.8 miles.
- At the other end of Rincon Parkway get back on Highway 101 and take the first exit, Main Street, at 109.3 miles.
- At 113.3 miles you'll be back at Dos Caminos Avenue near the Side Car Restaurant.
