At Chapman

Highlights: Cal Lutheran — In the first game, designated hitter Jordan Ott finished 2 for 4 with two runs scored, while Chad Heschong and Landon Smith each drove in runs. In the second game, Smith had two more RBIs on two hits. Catcher Chris Brouillete hit an two-run double and Paul Hartmann finished with three hits.

Records: Chapman 8-1, Cal Lutheran 2-4.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE BASEBALL

Lassen 9, Ventura 1;

Ventura 20, Feather River 2

At Skyline Tournament, San Francisco

Highlights: Ventura — Against Feather River, Garrett Rau went 4 for 7 with four runs scored and three RBIs. Jose Vargas went 3 for 4 with two runs scored and three RBIs, including his fourth homer of the season. Brett Fick went 3 for 5 with four runs scored and two RBIs. Jorge Ruvalcava went 2 for 2 with a run scored and an RBI.

Records: Ventura 4-5, Lassen 5-3, Feather River 1-8.

L.A. Valley 13, Moorpark 12

At Moorpark

Highlights: Moorpark — Brandon Kitching went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a double. Phil Johnson smacked two doubles en route to going 3 for 5 with two RBIs. Mike Schwartz drove in two runs and went 4 for 5.

Record: Moorpark 3-7.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE SOFTBALL

Palomar 8, Moorpark 5

Long Beach City 8, Moorpark 0

Moorpark 11, Imperial Valley 4

At Mt. Jacinto College

Highlights: Moorpark — Crystal Bingham, having pitched already in the first game against Palomar, went seven innings for a complete game victory against Imperial Valley. Kristen Torres had four hits, three RBIs, and two runs against Imperial Valley along with a double against Palomar.

Records: Moorpark 4-9.

WOMEN'S WATER POLO

Cal Baptist 10, Cal Lutheran 7;

UC Santa Cruz 11, Cal Lutheran 4

At Roadrunner Invitational

Highlights: Cal Lutheran — Against Cal Baptist, Ashley Bentz and Joy Cyprian each scored twice. Both Bentz and Cyprian scored once against UC Santa Cruz. Meredith Butte also totaled three goals, scoring once against Cal Baptist and twice against UC Santa Cruz.

Record: Cal Lutheran 0-2.

MEN'S TENNIS

Cal Lutheran 9, La Verne 0

At Cal Lutheran, Friday

Highlights: Cal Lutheran — The Kingsmen did not drop a set in sweeping to the victory. At No. 1 singles, Paul Wetterholm defeated La Verne's Mario Backus, 6-3, 6-2.

Record: Cal Lutheran 3-1, 2-1 SCIAC.

WOMEN'S TENNIS

At La Verne

Highlights: La Verne — The Leopards won four of six singles matches and two doubles matches. Cal Lutheran — Suz Nomura won her singles match and, along with Kate Dehmer, her doubles match. Sam Aguinaldo won her singles match.

Records: Cal Lutheran 1-5, 0-3 SCIAC.

GIRLS' WATER POLO PLAYOFFS

Rio Mesa 6, Crescenta Valley 4

CIF-SS Division IV playoffs, quarterfinals, at Burbank

Highlights: Rio Mesa — The Spartans became the first Pacific View League program to advance to the semifinals. Alicia Began had four goals. Shawna Widmer and Bianca DiMarcello scored. Lindsay Wolny had 11 blocks. Rio Mesa scored three goals in the last 90 seconds of the first quarter and led 4-0 with 13 seconds left in the half when Crescenta Valley scored its first goal. Rio Mesa will play No. 1 seed Harvard-Westlake in the semifinals on Wednesday at Irvine.

Record: Rio Mesa 25-7.

GIRLS' SOCCER PLAYOFFS

Buena 0, Chaminade 0 (Buena wins 3-2 in penalty kicks)

CIF-SS Division I playoffs, first round, at Buena

Highlights: Buena — Goalie Cate Giacopuzzirotz recorded eight saves in regulation, but made the key save in penalty kicks to vault Buena into a second-round matchup against Los Osos. Riley Ridgik's winning penalty kick was the difference. Megan Erskine and Kristen Kelley each made penalty shots.

Record: Buena 19-5-7.

Agoura 4, South Hills 1

CIF-SS Division II playoffs, first round, at Agoura

Highlights: Agoura — Brittany Held scored two goals, the first coming off of an assist by Michelle Manning. From a loose ball corner kick, Vanessa Wilson punched in a goal. Alex Smith scored off of a throw-in by Natasha Blonsky. Julie Felberg and Gina Goryoka played maginificent defense sharing time in goal. Agoura will play Yucaipa in the second round on Wednesday.

Record: Agoura 16-2-5.

Moorpark 1, Pasadena 0 (OT)

CIF-SS Division II playoffs, first round, at Pasadena

Highlights: Moorpark — Kaitlin Paleta scored the lone goal on a penalty kick in overtime. Defenders Jessica Dingaman and Ari Martinez, along with Stacy Fujikuni, had sensational defensive performances. Goalkeepers Alissa Reich and Miranda Rodriguez each recorded two saves in the shutout.

Record: Moorpark 8-4-9.

Thousand Oaks 4, Crescenta Valley 0

CIF-SS Division II playoffs, first round, at Thousand Oaks

Highlights: Thousand Oaks — Alyson Brigel and Megan Meyer each recorded a goal and an assist. The Lancers will take on Vista Murrieta in the second round on Wednesday.

Record: Thousand Oaks 16-5-3.

Orange 2, Camarillo 1

CIF-SS Division IV playoffs, first round, at Orange

Highlights: Camarillo — Taylor Benton scored in the 25th minute. Kendal Sears had the assist. Benton suffered a gash over the forehead late in the first half and missed the rest of the game. The cut required three stitches. Maddie Sollick played well on the offensive end.

Record: Camarillo 6-8-3.

Pacifica 3, Savanna 1

CIF-SS Division IV playoffs, first round, at Pacifica

Highlights: Pacifica — Yadira Toraya scored a goal and recorded an assist. Eunice Guillen and Yadira Gomez each scored a goal. Goalkeeper Ady Pimentel had six saves to preserve the win. Pacifica will play La Serna in the second round on Wednesday.

Record: Pacifica 17-5-2.

Paloma Valley 2, Oxnard 0

CIF-SS Division IV playoffs, first round, at Paloma Valley

Highlights: Oxnard — The Yellowjackets outshot Paloma Valley 7-5. Ela Ambriz had a great individual effort. Jessica Aldrete and Laura Flores played well defensively.

Records: Paloma Valley 18-5-2, Oxnard 14-7-4.

Oaks Christian 3, El Segundo 1

CIF-SS Division V playoffs, first round, at Oaks Christian

Highlights: Oaks Christian — Kelsey Smith scored in the 41st minute on assists from Ally Courtnall and Kelly Johnson. In the 51st minute, Kristen Clark headed a throw-in from Johnson to Jillian Stowall, who scored. In the 81st minute, Smith scored after a Clark header from a Johnson corner kick. Noe Salter had six saves and 13 takeaways.

Record: Oaks Christian 18-3-2.

St. Bonaventure 5, Montebello 0

CIF-SS Division V playoffs, first round, at St. Bonaventure

Highlights: St. Bonaventure — Jessica Garcia scored two goals. Amilee Smith had a goal and an assist. Kristen Hernandez and Melissa Johnson also scored. Brittany Monforte, Mika Hefflefinger and Amanda Smith had assists.

Records: St. Bonaventure 16-4-2, Montebello 9-8-4.

South Torrance 1, La Reina 0

CIF-SS Division V playoffs, first round, at South Torrance

Highlights: La Reina — Goalkeeper Ali Parisi recorded 12 saves. Megan Scanlon, Jillian DeGennero and Kelsea Brajkovich had solid defensive efforts despite the loss. South Torrance was the No. 1 seed coming into the match.

Records: South Torrance 20-4-2, La Reina 15-11.

Grace Brethren 2, Mary Star of the sea 1

CIF-SS Division VI playoffs, first round, at Mary Star of the Sea

Highlights: Grace Brethren — With her team trailing, Andrea Robinson scored a goal in the 28th minute to tie the game at 1-1. Robinson later got an assist on a corner kick to Meghan Reno, who scored the game-winning goal. Hayley Johnson had an assist on Robinson's goal.

Records: Grace Brethren 14-4-1, Mary Star of the Sea 11-5.

Other scores — Walnut 4, Newbury Park 0; Desert Christian 2, Fillmore 1.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS

Buena 70, Serra 23

CIF-SS Division I-AA playoffs, first round, at Buena

Highlights: Buena — Amanda Padilla led all scorers with 21 points with five 3-pointers. Holly Holcomb scored 12 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Point guard Amelia Mathis recorded eight points, seven rebounds, eight assists and six steals. Buena will face Lynnwood in the second round.

Records: Buena 18-9, Serra 14-12.

Newbury Park 52, Dos Pueblos 49

CIF-SS Division I-AA playoffs, first round, at Newbury Park

Highlights: Newbury Park — Newbury Park held Dos Pueblos to only four points in the first quarter. Doris Park-Sherman had a double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Sidney Gobner scored 14 points and had four assists.

Record: Newbury Park 12-15.

Oaks Christian 56, Chaminade 53

Division II-AA playoffs, first round, at Oaks Christian

Highlights: Oaks Christian — Chelsea Carlisle led in scoring with 28 points and also had five assists. Katie Brooks scored nine points, grabbed 14 rebounds and had five assists. Christine Escoto scored 12 points and had eight rebounds. Oaks Christian advances to face Etiwanda in the second round.

Records: Oaks Christian 19-4, Chaminade 18-9.

Beverly Hills 66, Fillmore 61

CIF-SS Division II-AA playoffs, first round, at Fillmore

Highlights: Beverly Hills — Morgan Mason scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Normans to their first second-round game in 30 years. Fillmore — Rebeca Herrera led the Flashes with 19 points and Kyla Hernandez scored 16. Aimee Orozco added 10 points.

Records: Beverly Hills 19-9, Fillmore 19-8.

Pacific Hills 74, Channel Islands 50

CIF-SS Division III-AA playoffs, second round, at Channel Islands

Highlights: Channel Islands — Whitney Shirley scored 13 points and also grabbed seven rebounds. Arlene Cortez scored 12 points. Maye Danganan added 10 points and had three assists.

Record: Channel Islands 16-9.

La Reina 55, Viewpoint 45

CIF-SS Division V-AA playoffs, second round, at La Reina

Highlights: La Reina — Emily Carson scored a team-high 18 points, including all of the 3-pointers for the team. Jenna Burge scored 12 points and Rachel Zisman scored 10. La Reina advances to play No. 1 seed Whitter Christian on Wednesday.

Records: La Reina 16-10, Viewpoint 17-10.

Villanova 42, Kern Valley 30

CIF-SS Division V-AA playoffs, second round, at Villanova

Highlights: Villanova — Hannah Kolbeck led with 12 points to complement a strong defensive effort with five steals. Kaitlin Reilley scored 10 points.

Record: Villanova 18-7.

Other scores — Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) 61, Oak Park 29; Windward 50, Oxnard 37; Sierra Vista 56, Thacher 28.
