Querrey, Bryans makes semifinals

Third-seeded Sam Querrey reached the semifinals of the Delray Beach (Fla.) International on Friday with a 6-2, 6-4 win over fellow American Vince Spadea.

Querrey, the 20-year-old Thousand Oaks graduate Querrey seeking his first ATP title, will next play qualifier Kei Nishikori of Japan.

Camarillo's Bob and Mike Bryan reached the semifinals in doubles with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, Pakistan of and Bobby Reynolds of the United States.

Henin reaches Diamond Games semifinals: Top-ranked Justine Henin survived a day of upsets by beating Russian qualifier Alisa Kleybanova 6-4, 6-3 to reach the Diamond Games semifinals at Antwerp, Belgium. Henin will face Swiss qualifier Timea Bacsinszky. Karen Knapp of Italy and Li Na of China will play in the other semifinal.

Murray makes semifinals: Fourth-seeded Andy Murray beat Nicolas Mahut of France 7-5, 7-6 (5) to advance to the semifinals of the Open 13 at Marseille, France.

Murray will face Paul-Henri Mathieu. In the other semifinal, Marcos Baghdatis will meet Mario Ancic of Croatia.

Bonds' trainer still won't say anything

Barry Bonds' personal trainer still isn't talking.

Greg Anderson, jailed for more than a year for refusing to testify against the slugger, declined comment after a judge rejected government demands that he and three others convicted of distributing steroids return evidence related to the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative drug ring.

Ex-Patriots employee wants NFL protection

The lawyer for former New England Patriots employee Matt Walsh said his client is willing to turn over videotapes he made for the team if the NFL guarantees Walsh protection from lawsuits or other legal action.

Attorney Michael Levy said to date, the NFL's initial proposals are not sufficient protection for Walsh, who is said to have taped the St. Louis Rams' walkthrough practice the day before they played the Patriots in the 2002 Super Bowl.

Titans plan to franchise Haynesworth: The Tennessee Titans will slap defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth with a franchise tag by Thursday's deadline, but will keep working to sign the All-Pro to a long-term deal, his agent said.

UCLA's Cowan has knne surgery

UCLA quarterback Patrick Cowan had a small piece of torn cartilage removed from his left knee. He will begin rehab next week. Spring practice opens April 3 and Cowan's status will be evaluated during his rehab.

Galaxy acquires Vanney from United

The Los Angeles Galaxy acquired defender Greg Vanney from D.C. United in exchange for midfielder Quavas Kirk.

Skiing

Poutiainen wins women's slalom

Tanja Poutiainen earned her first World Cup victory of the season by winning a slalom with a sizzling second run that vaulted her from third to first at Zagreb, Croatia.
