Do-it-yourself family law advice at new El Rio site
People representing themselves in the court system can now get forms and other information at the Ventura County Superior Court's new Family Resource Center.
The center, which opened Friday at the Juvenile Courthouse in El Rio, will allow people to complete court forms, conduct research, attend workshops, read self-help manuals and obtain legal information on divorce, paternity, custody and support issues, domestic violence, guardianships and stepparent adoption.
Two-hour workshops will be offered on Mondays on domestic violence restraining order assistance in English and Spanish; Wednesdays on beginning a divorce or legal separation, in Spanish only; and Fridays on guardianship orientation in both English and Spanish. Workshops will begin at 2 p.m. each day.
The center will be staffed by bilingual self-help assistants. Attorneys will be on-site during workshops. Services are free.
The center opens at 9 a.m. weekdays for self-help services. It is open until 4 p.m. except on days when the workshops are offered. On those days, it will close at 1 p.m.
The center is in Room 206 on the second floor of the Juvenile Courthouse, 4353 Vineyard Ave. For more information, call 981-5974.

I tell you, nothing but racist on this website!!! If it wasnt for the spanish speakers in this country, you would have to do your own yard, wash your own car, cook for yourself, no more fast foods, and you wouldnt have your fancy salad at the Pierpont Inn cause no one would pick the veggies that go in it!!!

How is it racist?
Why can't they speak English while they wash, cook, and pick?

Why isn't there also an English workshop for divorce and legal separation?
There is nothing wrong with English being the first language spoken in America. If you go to another country, do you expect them to speak English to accommodate you? NO.

English and Spanish aren't races?
They're cultures, no? If you're from England, are you not English? If you are from Spain, are you not Spanish?
Open up a world civilzations book before you call others "fool."
