Two injured when SUV flips on Hwy. 101
Two Camarillo residents were seriously injured Thursday morning when their SUV landed on its roof after spinning out of control along Highway 101, authorities said.
The 2:35 a.m. accident occurred after driver Scott Sturges, 36, fell asleep at the wheel on northbound Highway 101 near Las Posas Road in Camarillo, California Highway Patrol Officer Shawna Davison said. Sturges woke up as the SUV drifted toward the right side of the highway, Davison said.
Sturges tried to steer the vehicle back to the center of the road, and it struck the center divide, Davison said. The vehicle overturned and landed on its roof.
Sturges was able to get out, but a passenger, Bethany Spannagel, 30, was stuck inside for about an hour, Davison said.
Spannagel suffered a broken neck, ribs and femur, Davison said. She was taken to St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, where she was in serious condition Thursday. Sturges was transferred to St. John's Pleasant Valley Medical Center, where he was treated for pain in his left shoulder and released.

Driving drowsy is like driving drunk, its a bad feeling and a crappy drive.

The article states in the first sentence that TWO people were seriously injured, yet at the end of the article, it states that the driver was treated for pain in his left shoulder and released. That is HARDLY a serious injury. A serious injury is classified as anything from a broken bone on up. The person or persons who wrote and edited this article should ease up on the hype and just print the facts. The first sentence should've read "Two Camarillo residents were injured, one seriously..."
I hope both driver and passenger recover quickly and fully!

I saw their car, it's a mess! Lucky to be alive these two.
And I've been drowsy at the wheel before, southbound on the 23 fwy at the southbound 101 transition, eyes wide open, made the curve and came to as I entered the 101 south. Scarey, needless to say I spent a few minutes on the right shoulder kicking myself. Coffee don't help, only sleep will get you home safe.

THIS sounds crazy I know But I have gotten very sleepy while driving at times. Beware of the music on the radio or CD it can relax you. ALso open your windown and get some really cool air. And the craziest of all is sing out loud ,as loud as you can and it does help to keep you awake..........
I hope both recover fully!!!!

How about just pulling over and taking a nap?
Instead of putting other people at risk.
