ROTARY CLUB TO OFFER $14,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

The Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise now has applications available for the annual scholarship awards. This year the Simi Sunrise Rotary Charitable Foundation working with the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise has made $14,000 available for the awards to applicants who are seniors, graduating from high schools in the Simi Valley area.

This year's scholarship committee has made the decision that the awards will be based primarily on the applicant's efforts to help in community activities rather than only academic achievements.

The motto of the Rotary Club and its members is "Service above Self" and the scholarship committee and the Sunrise Rotary Board decided that this value should be honored in the financial support of students who are the future of our community.

Applications are available to graduating seniors either through printed copies at the counseling offices at local high schools or in electronic (.pdf) format on the internet web site for the Sunrise Rotary Club (http://www.rotaryclubofsimisunrise.com). Applicants are welcomed to make copies of the materials to complete and submit for consideration prior to the April 17, 2008 deadline. Applications can either be turned in to the counseling office at local high schools or can be sent to the following address: c/o Roger Coger, 1985 Yosemite Avenue, Suite 241, Simi Valley, California 93063

The Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise scholarship committee is devoted to helping students who want to be involved in helping others to be the best citizens in our community and the world. If you are a high school senior who wants to continue on with either college education or vocational training, we encourage you to apply. The awarded money will be placed in an account at the school of your choice for use in paying tuition or buying books.
