Multiple gunshots killed school shooting victim
The teenager who was shot by a classmate at an Oxnard junior high school this week died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head, authorities said.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office released the exact cause of Lawrence King's death Friday afternoon after completing an autopsy.
Senior Deputy Medical Examiner Armando Chavez declined to release further details, including how many bullet wounds King suffered.
King, 15, was declared brain dead about 2 p.m. Wednesday, Chavez said.
The teen was shot about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in a computer lab at E.O. Green School. He was rushed to St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, where he was put into a medically induced coma after a brief stint in the emergency room, his father, Greg King, told the Ventura County Star.
King had a massive stroke on Wednesday morning, which caused his brain to swell and die, his father said.
On Thursday night, doctors at St. John removed some of King's vital organs for donation. King had rare type-A blood, and at least a few of his organs were donated to children younger than he was, his father said.
King was taken off a ventilator late Thursday, and medical examiners picked up his body around 1 a.m., Chavez said.
Students who were in the computer lab where the shooting occurred said classmate Brandon McInerney shot King twice.
McInerney, who the district attorney's office charged this week with murder and a hate crime in connection with King's killing, remained in juvenile hall on Friday. McInerney, 14, was charged as an adult. His bail has been set at $770,000.

King Family,
It was so nice of you to donate the organs of your son. You'll be saving and changing the lives of others due to this generosity. RIP...

RIP Lawrence King...I trust that you are in a better place now.
Thanks to the King family for donating Larry's organs so that others may live and that he may live on through them.
This is just all so incredibly sad.

Keep milking this story Star for all its worth. Especially when there's nothing new to add! Just rehash and rehash under "Breaking News"!

SF1943 and Noah_Bennet, I think the Star is doing wonderfully. If you are done hearing about this story, then why do you click in to read it? Some people do still care to hear more.

SF1943 I was going to say the same thing. With all respects DrcGrl, the Star uses different headlines but adds nothing new to previous reports.

This is the first time I've read anything about the shooting. As a matter of fact, yesterday was the first time I heard about this, so I'm glad the Star wrote this.
I don't read the Star every day anymore because nothing new comes up. I usually read it about every three days or less now.
I also don't watch the news everyday because it gets too depressing. So I check out the papers every other day or so. It helps keep my blood pressure down as well.
I agree with DrcGrl, if you're tired of it take a break for a day or so like I did.

What a horrible, horrible tragedy, both victim and shooter. I pray that both families find peace--the peace that passes all understanding. King family, you are all in my prayers. My prayers go out as well to everyone else involved in this senseless atrocity--the other children and teacher who witnessed the act. It's going to be a long road to healing. Bless them all.
