Mr. and Mrs. Ishmael Messer of Ventura are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Holly Anne Messer to Christopher Ryan Gilbert.
Holly Anne graduated from Buena High School in 1998. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology and Systematic Biology from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2003. After graduation Holly Anne completed training throughout the U. S. and Europe in Pilates, Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis. In 2006 she opened her own business, Elite Body Training, and is currently enjoying her work as a certified personal trainer in the San Luis Obispo area.
Chris is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Gilbert of Shasta, Calif. Chris graduated from Shasta High School in 2001. In March 2008, he will complete his degree in Electrical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He is currently working as a research assistant at Cal Poly. Chris earned his private pilot's license in 2006. In December 2007 Chris was accepted into the U.S. Air Force Officer's Training School. After OTS, Chris will begin his military pilot training.
Both Holly Anne and Chris enjoy an active life style, which includes biking, hiking, rock climbing and just about any outdoor sport. They are active participants in their church ministries and work in several community outreach programs. The couple is looking forward to their May wedding. They plan to honeymoon in Saint Lucia in the Caribbean before embarking on a military career.
