Simi YMCA Junior Lakers Spring League Sign-Ups Underway

More from MoorparkSign-ups are currently underway for the Simi Valley Family YMCA Junior Lakers Basketball League. The spring season, which includes practices and a eight-week inter-league season, runs from March 25 through May 18. The league is for boys and girls ages 8 through 16
No tryouts are necessary and everyone participates. Each child will be placed on a team in one of three Y-Winners age divisions: ages 8 through 10, 11 through 13 and 14 through 16. Y-Winner teammates receive values-based instruction while in a competitive program. "Instruction is values-based," says Dave DeMaio, the Simi YMCA healthy lifestyles director. "The program is competitive but the focus is on having fun."
Program participants each receive a uniform and an end-of-season trophy.
Practices and games will take place at the Seventh Day Adventist Church gym (1636 Sinaloa Rd., Simi Valley). Practices will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Games are scheduled on Sundays between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. League cost is $65 for facility members and $130 for non-members. Signups after March 16 will pay an extra $25.
