Oxnard changes game time
Oxnard High has moved its game time for its first-round Division III-AA girls' basketball home game against Pioneer Valley to Thursday at 7 p.m.
BOYs' basketball
Fillmore to host first-round game
Because First Lutheran was without a home court, Fillmore High will host today's first-round Division VI boys' basketball game at 7 p.m.
Girls' water polo
Site picked for Royal playoff game
Royal High's Division II girls' water polo playoff game against South Coast League champion San Clemente will be played at Capistrano Valley High on Thursday at 3 p.m.
Boxing
Oxnard's Garcia will fight on undercard
Miguel Angel Garcia of La Colonia Boxing Club in Oxnard has been added to the undercard of the Kelly Pavlik vs. Jermain Taylor pay-per-view fight to be held Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
This is the first fight in 2008 for Garcia, who last won a unanimous decision against Manuel Sarabia on Sept. 20 2007, at the Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas.
Garcia is 10-0 with eight knockouts.
High school baseball
Ventura to host alumni game
Ventura High will hold a baseball alumni game Saturday at 10 a.m. Any interested alumnus may attend or call 641-5116, ext. 1127, for more information.
WRESTLING
Northern Division meet at Pacifica
Pacifica High will host the Nothern Division CIF-Southern Section individual wrestling championships on Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Leagues competing will be Citrus Belt, De Anza, Golden, Mt. Baldy, Pacific Coast, Pac-7. Pacific View, Rio Hondo and Tri-Valley.
Admission will be $7 for adults, $5 for students with ASB cards and $5 for children 3-13.
There will be a second charge for Saturday night finals of $8 for adults.
Camarillo, Channel Islands, Hueneme, Oxnard, Pacifica and Rio Mesa will represent the Pacific View League.
The Tri-Valley League includes Fillmore, Nordhoff, Santa Clara and Santa Paula.
FIELD HOCKEY
Americans finish sixth in tournament
The American men's national team will have to wait until 2012 for the London Olympic Games after finishing sixth in the qualifying tournament for the Beijing Games.
The Americans defeated Trinidad & Tobago 4-2 for a pool-play win on Saturday, but dropped a 3-2 decision to Trinidad & Tobago in the fifth-place game on Sunday.
The national players from the area are Kevin Barber, Pat Cota, Will Holt, Shawn Nakamura, Camarillo; Rinku Bhamber, Jonathon Ginolfi, Simi Valley; Jed Cunningham, Pat Harris, Sean Harris, Moorpark; Jeb Saez, Ian Scally, Brian Schledorn, Jason Wellings, Thousand Oaks.
