Steve Pate, a six-time winner on the PGA Tour was inducted into the Califoria Golf Writers' Hall of Fame at a ceremony last week at Pebble Beach.

Looking for members: The Westlake Women's Golf Club is actively recruiting new members.

Members can play two play days a week, Tuesday and Thursday, and the club has guaranteed teed times.

The WWGC also features a number of social events and tournaments for all levels.

Contact Claudette at 818-347-6796.

Fantasy golf: Teeclub.com is offering a free fantasy golf game around this week's Northern Trust Open (formerly the Nissan Open). Participants choose five golfers in the field and score points based on how they perform during the event.

Top finishers have a chance to choose from a variety of prizes that include golf at local courses, lessons from local professionals and meals at local restaurants.

To play, go the www.teeclub.com and register. Entries must be made by Feb. 14 at 7 a.m.

Looking for help: The AT&T Champions Classic is seeking volunteers to serve in a variety of capacities for the March 10-16 Champions Tour event at Valencia Country Club.

Volunteers can serve in a variety of capacities, including course marshals, walking scorers, transportation, admissions and on-course operations, to name a few.

Volunteers must commit to a minimum of three days of work and each volunteer will receive a pass for the week, parking hangar, two daily admission tickets and a food voucher for each day of work.

Each new volunteer for 2008 must purchase the AT&T Champions Classic uniform, consisting of one logo shirt and hat for $25. Returning volunteers from 2007 can use last year's uniform.

A registration form is available online at the tournament Web site, http://www.attchampionsclassic.com or by contacting Mary Boyle at the tournament headquarters Office, 661-254-9750.

VCJGA needs help: The Ventura County Junior Golf Association will be operating food carts at this week's Northern Trust Open. The food carts will be selling pretzels, ice cream and churros as a way to raise money for the organization.

Last year, the VCJGA raised $4,000 for various programs.

VCJGA executive director Mark Wipf said volunteers are needed to help at this week's tournament — particularly on Thursday and Friday.

Only two people per booth are needed and Wipf said an adult can easily handle a booth/cart alone. Kids 14 and older can work as individuals; kids 13 and younger need a parent to accompany them.

Anyone interested can contact Wipf at mark@vcjga.com.
