Photo exhibit's focus on charged locations

Brian Stethem of Fillmore will exhibit photographs of places that hold special meanings for people in an exhibit running Feb. 21 through March 27 at California Lutheran University.

The opening reception for "Uncommon Places: Photography by Brian Stethem" will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 22 in CLU's Kwan Fong Gallery of Art and Culture.

With subjects ranging from Scotland's Loch Ness to Area 51 in Nevada, Stethem explores the attributes that make a place special, whether it's the site's history or the myths surrounding it. Other subjects featured include the Salton Sea and the Lake View Terrace site where Rodney King was beaten in 1993.

Admission is free. The Kwan Fong Gallery, in the Soiland Humanities Center, is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

For information, contact Michael Pearce at 493-3316 or visit http://www.callutheran.edu/kwan_fong/.
