Lang Ranch Elementary School PTA earns $3,445

Lang Ranch Elementary School PTA announced today that they are one of the top 250 earning groups nationally in the recent Vons 10% Back to Schools Program. As one of the top 250 groups, Vons has contributed an additional $1,000 for a grand total of $3,445.

Through this six week Back to Schools program, the Safeway family of stores has contributed over $3 million to support the education of youth across the nation.

Lang Ranch PTA plans to use the $3,445 to help fund the P.E. program. Because of the funding from the PTA, students at Lang Ranch can participate in P.E. three times each week. As the incidence of childhood obesity rises, physical education is more important than ever as one of the tools we can use to fight this dangerous trend.

"We appreciate Vons and their ongoing commitment to education and our local schools," said Denise Reader, Lang Ranch PTA President. "Because of Vons participation in the eScrip program, and the more than 600 Lang Ranch families that are registered with eScrip, our PTA is able to provide programs and services that benefit all of our children."

Vons 10% Back to Schools program allowed schools to earn 10% of items purchased by school supporters from participating manufacturers this past summer. Top Vons manufacturers contributing to Lang Ranch Elementary School PTA through the program included Kraft Foods, Pepsi, Kellogg's, General Mills, Sara Lee and Unilever.

The eScrip program delivers marketing programs that bring retailers, manufacturers and service providers forward in support of education of youth. To date, the eScrip program has generated more than $180 million in merchant contributions to schools and organizations across the country.
