2 held in attempted doughnut shop theft
Two people were arrested Saturday in connection with an attempted burglary at the Spudnuts doughnut shop in Ventura just after 11 p.m.
A 17-year old juvenile and 20-year-old Christopher Matthews of Oxnard were allegedly trying to remove the cash register of the shop in the 500 block of Telephone Road when they were confronted by an employee. Officers arrived just after the two suspects fled.
The two were arrested a short time later when they were spotted in the area.
Matthews was booked into the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of felony burglary and was being held Sunday evening on $10,000 bail.

The article did not say whether the store was opened or not. I'm in the Cash Register Business and we always tell customers to leave the cash drawer open at night in case of a break in. If someone breaks in and they see the cash drawer closed they will think it is loaded with money and take the entire register or beat it open and there was probably no money in it at all! My site is http://www.cashregisterguys.com/sharp... and I have some other cash register advice posted there as well.

the store is always open, its SPUDNUTS!! the idiots probably thought no one was around becasue the owner is always right around the corner from the register making more dough nuts!! Anyone who tries to steal from hard working individuals like the guys at spudnuts deserves a hefty punishment.
