Ronald and Karen (Toma) Freeman of Simi Valley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, February 8, 2008, with a party and family reunion on Saturday the 9th at the Elk's Lodge in Simi Valley.

The couple was married in 1958 at Hanscom Park United Methodist Church in Omaha, Nebraska, by Dr. Benjamin Schwartz.

The Freemans settled in Simi Valley in 1965 where they raised five children, all of whom attended Simi Valley High School.

Ron is retired from Xerox Corp. in El Segundo where he worked as an electronics engineer for over 25 years. Karen is a homemaker with many creative talents and outside interests. Over the years they have been active members of the local Moose and Elk's Lodges. The Freemans now enjoy their retirement and independence as they frequently travel all over the United States in their RV.

The celebration on Saturday was hosted by the couple's five children and their families: Lizabeth and Donald Sackett of Reseda, California; Vicki Brown and Ed Scullin of Thousand Oaks, California; Kathy and Mike Adams of Henderson, Nevada; Eric and Marcy Freeman and Geoff and Ronda Freeman of Simi Valley. Ron and Karen also have 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The family had many relatives and life-long friends to be on hand to toast the couple on their Golden Anniversary.
