More from Camarillo
Tim Gallagher, 51, has joined the board of directors of Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, replacing long-term member Henry P. Buckingham who retired.
Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road in Ventura, has served the community as a non-profit endowment care cemetery since 1917. Ivy lawn is one of the few privately owned cemetery parks and it is governed by a board of directors.
The cemetery serves the community through public ceremonies each year commemorating Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Approximately 10,000 families visit their loved one at the cemetery each year.
Gallagher joins the non-profit's board that includes Chairman Brad Wetherell of Camarillo and directors Fred Ferro of Somis, and Harry Maynard and Gregory Smith, both of Ventura. Terri Taylor Gonzalez is the president and general manager of Ivy Lawn.
Gallagher, who lives in Somis, was recently editor and then publisher of the Ventura County Star. He left that position in September to open his own strategic media and website consulting business called Gallagher 20/20 Consulting, operating in Westlake Village. He continues with the Star's parent company as a special assistant to the head of the newspaper publishing division.
"I am delighted to join such a worthy and prestigious organization," Gallagher said. "The community is fortunate to have an independent, non-profit cemetery such as Ivy Lawn."
