YMCA offers swim classes next month
Indoor winter swim classes at the Simi Valley Family YMCA will begin Jan. 12 and run through Feb. 28.
Classes are available for all levels of swimmers and age groups.
The pool is less hectic during the winter, said Erin Pierik, senior program director.
Because our pool is indoors, it doesnt matter what the weather is outside. The pool stays at a very comfortable 84 degrees.
Having kids learn about water safety before summer is another advantage to winter and spring swim lessons. Many kids are often around water all year long, said Pierik.
The sooner they are water safe the better. Plus, the classes provide great exercise even when its too cold to play outside, Pierik said.
The lessons take place during the mornings, after school, evenings and on Saturdays.

The Simi Valley YMCA is at 3200 Cochran St.
