Teacher accused of showing nude photo
A Moorpark High School teacher has been arrested on suspicion of showing a nude photograph of himself to a 15-year-old student, police said Wednesday.
The 15-year-old was a former student of Christopher Wright, a 38-year-old mathematics teacher and Camarillo resident.
The two were discussing the modeling business when Wright offered to show the girl some images of friends who work as models, she told police. Instead, Wright showed her a nude photograph of himself stored on his cell phone, according to police.
Wright was arrested Monday on suspicion of sending harmful matter with the intent of seducing a minor, a felony, police said. He was booked at East County Jail in Thousand Oaks and later released on bond.
Moorpark High officials said they placed Wright on administrative leave after his arrest. They declined to comment further, saying it was a confidential disciplinary issue.

Guess he isn't an ethics teacher! He must not have been a very good model if he was a teacher.
What is wrong with people? I just don't understand how in his stupid little mind he thought that showing this girl these pictures would be an acceptable action. I know kids at 15, 16, 17 can seem like they are older than they are but they are still teenagers/children! No excuse for these idiots to act like this with our children. It just makes me sick!

This sounds bad but I wonder if the photograph could be some form of art. They were discussing modeling. Classic nudes are some of the greatest works of art in human history.

Clearly the guy has a few problems... Showing naked body parts to children is NOT appropriate for any adult, let alone one put in a position of responsibility for children... School teachers and camp counselors need MORE screening then they are obviously getting... Perhaps they should be made to take psycological testing to determine whether they are attracted sexually to children BEFORE they get hired? Just another thought...

Regardless of whether it would be considered ART - he's a teacher; she's an impressionable underage student. He's to be fired and prosecuted. If it was YOUR 15 year old daughter, what would you do? If he wanted to share "tasteful" nude art, it should have been in a public classroom setting, with school and parental approval, and NOT showing one of himself. He's perverted.

He really wasn’t that good of a teacher. We did what he wanted to do in his class. He would let us watch movies and listen to music. He let the girls use his phone. He had to give us test but when the whole class would do bad he would tell us all off and call us stupid.

What could possibly be legit about a teacher showing nude photos of himself to a student? I could understand if he was an Art teacher who was teaching his students (a classroom full of them!) of classical art from ancient years but pictures of him on a cell phone? This guy is just a pervert. Thinks he is cool but all of the girls his age think he is a dumba$$ probably so he looks to high school girls that look up to him. YUCK!

Totally inappropriate. $1.50 says it's not the first time he's done it and this will open more incidents based on reading the comments here. This is a selling point for people like him because it's an opening "line" to get them to look at the picture and get their reaction.

If they were talking about modeling as the article states then there are plenty of famous artist that have captured the human body nude, use them as an example. Mr Wright is a disgrace to teachers.

newshound,
C'mon, you really do't believe that, do you..?
Classic art my a_ _ !
If 'nude' classic art was legal to teach to minors, they'd see it.
And that is the key word, 'minor'.
Real classic nudes are elegantly posed by real photographers using props, natural elements, backgrounds and cloths as a way to truly capture the essence of the human body.
Classic nudes date back to the middle ages, and were heavily influenced by the Greeks and Romans.
Plus the 'majority' of these nudes are female, and can be very expensive
This was plain porn!
So newshound, don't spin the story to make this pervert seem innocent of this action. He or someone he knows took his nude picture with a cell phone for gods sake.
This case is what it is.
Why hasn't the star posted a picture of this guy yet?
Wright is so gunho to show himself, at least post his ID picture or booking photo for everyone to see?

lawabider ~ in response to your post "School teachers and camp counselors need MORE screening then they are obviously getting... " this may be the case however as a teacher you are already ran through every criminal data base including federal. In somecases depending upon the school or position in which you apply you also need to show psychological competence.
Oh and unlike teachers most camp counselors don't need a degree or anything last time I checked.

You have to take an "exit Math" class now to graduate? What the "F"? What happened to needing Algebra 1 or real math to graduate? This sounds like it's the school's requirement fullfillment to get kids to graduate no matter how dumb they are.

To graduate u need to have three years of math ,
(with at least algebra 1 or higher) and you need to pass the exit exam, which is taken sophomore year. if you dont pass it, you take it every year till you do ( 4-5 chances total)
High school exit math is i believe the class Juniors/ seniors are put into to help them pass it if they have yet to pass it
haha in all honesty, the math section of the exit exam wasnt that hard (says the kid who struggled with the same algebra class for 4 years)

There was found to be tens of thousands of pornographic pictures of children in the early teens. Not pictures of "Art" of children, but the sick stuff. May I suggest that those of you who have taken the time to hold a trial for this person on your keyboard take a turn at the real thing and do your turn for jury duty. You might learn some basics of crime and punishment in America. An understanding of concepts such as "innocent until proven guilty" might help you deal with your pent up feelings of frustration while allowing you to actually have something intelligent to say on these posts.

Student-teacher relationships have been going on for Lord only knows how many years. When I was in HS our science teacher started dating a student, got her pregnant, and married her!
I'm not excusing the behavior by any means. But with middle school kids engaging in oral and other sex now, it's not surprising that this kind of stuff happens in high school.
Again, the teachers need to be the 'adult' and not go there with students. But I'll go out on a limb and say that in many cases the underage 'victim' is just as willing, if not more so.
It's still wrong and this guy in particular seems to have issues other than his ego and not having any game with people his own age. My on-line psychoanalysis is that he is controlling and manipulative.

The 'victim' can be as willing as she wants for that matter.Mr Wright is a teacher, he should know better!... In this case I don't care if some teenage girl walked in his classroom naked and willingly offered him whatever he wanted.. He would still be wrong!! That kind of judgement is what stops people from reporting crimes... well maybe they will think I brought it on myself.. so and so saw me flirting with him... No, now know one will believe me, I am not going to say anything!

Angel_xoxo...I totally agree with you that the teacher, in every case, should know better and should not ever think of doing something like this. But in HS there were plenty of kids - boys and girls - who were not 18 yet but who were either pursuing a relationship with an adult or were in one...willing in one.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not excusing or justifying the adult participation in any of these. It's just that the relationships could be consensual...and still be wrong and illegal.

Moderator, why did you remove my link about a public school? Insight is a public on-line charter school. It is an alternative to traditional schools. This is NOT an advertisement for them. I am providing a link for parents and students who want to get out of traditional classes and the garbage that goes on there. The deadline is January 15th for the spring semester. Kids in Ventura County have the right to attend this school, and leave Moorpark, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, or West Ventura County high schools. It is free.
What is wrong with me posting this? Email me if you have a good answer. Remember, this is a PUBLIC high school and it is free.

a. still unacceptable
b. nude stranger? If in the context of classic art and in which is normally taught in school would be approved by the school and would be shown in an Art class (not math) and would be in a classroom setting with 30 other students. not one on one.
c. same as b.

I'm just curious why you've all pretty much already convicted someone of something he is just under "suspicion" of doing? And also, if this girl is a FORMER student, why didn't she report the alleged incident when it happened? Did she get an "F" on her report card & wanted to retaliate later down the road? I'm not making excuses for the behavior that may or may have not happened but it seems kind of strange that she's coming forward after the fact. If it really bothered her, she should've reported it as soon as it happened.

OMG, you're right Sunkist, he shouldn't have shown this girl a nude picture of himself. I guess he should have hacked her to death with a cleaver. Then you'd be telling us what a great guy he is and how he has mental issues that are societies fault. I guess Mr. Wright's issues don't count if he didn't do something as horrific as murdering a a 6 year old with a cleaver.

I cant believe it took this long to catch him. I graduated over six years ago...and knew many worse things happening. I just wish the girl come forward.

Sunkist,
Here are some of your quotes regarding Calvin who hacked the 6 year old to death:
"Wow honestly did any of you even know him ? or are you all just assuming
In Calvin's defense he was a nice guy!
what if Calvin was your relative would you want to hear or read about other inconsiderate people wanting him fried to death! No you wouldn't
however he is also a wonderful and loving individual.
Wow you guys prove how insensitive and sick individuals in this world really are!
And while it may be true you didn't know him and what you know of him is through the media...mind you ANYONE who has a BRAIN knows the media is Bias and in most cases streches the truth but hey thats your own damn stupidity for beliving only what you hear from the media!!
Because you along with I don't know all the facts and NEVER will!!
REALITY CHECK THE CRIME HE COMMITED WAS HORRIABLE!! NOT HIM!!
I do believe in second chances!
who is to blame... Society ...and your right if it was my kids i would probably be singing a different tune...however i don't know and never will until that day comes."
Every single one of your comments about this teacher violates your preaching in the Calvin thread. You don't KNOW what he's done before, none of us do. What he did this time is more than enough, but is it worse than what Calvin did? Sorry, not even close, yet you forgive Calvin and berate this teacher. Could they both have mental health issues, sure they could, but you are more than willing to understand Calvin's problem, and put down the teacher.
Learn to stop being a hypocrite. BTW if my head was where you claim it is, the only thing I'd see is S***, so your analogy is also ridiculous.

Hypocrite? Me I knew Calvin personally and he NEVER was mean, rude or anything! He Screwed up...there is nothing that can change that; however he can give back to society if given a chance...something you obviously don't believe in. And yeah i do have a problem with Mr Wright and the fact that he is under investigation when it comes to showing someone naked pics of himself! And i have ever right to be disgusted with his actions exspecially since he is a teacher.

I wasn't trying to say you all had a court session about the subject just that there are 2 sides of every story.

Mr. Wright wasn't the best teacher but he did encourage me to go to college and I thank him for that. He always seemed like he wanted to relive his college years I think thats why he pushed his students to go to college, he always said college was the best time of his life. I think he got caught up in his glory years and needed a reality check. Just sorry it had to come like this.

"nobody wants to hear about the good someone could have done"
sorry, but calvin could have cured cancer, and it would never in a million years make up for what he did to that poor little boy. that sick, sick man should get a single bullet in the head.
and I repeat: how can no one have stepped forward ten years ago, if this creep was acting like this then? you people who sit idly by while crimes are being committed around you make me sick to my stomach.

From Sunkist: I knew Calvin personally and he NEVER was mean, rude or anything! He Screwed up . .
Screwing up is showing a 15 year old a naked picture. Screwing up is NOT hacking to death a 6 year old after you raped his mother repeatedly. This nice "Never mean" guys wife left him and took his sons because he was abusive. He was into Dom/Sub relationships, and he . . . let me see if I can state it to you in a way you'll understand. HE HACKED A 6 YEAR OLD TO DEATH WITH A CLEAVER, BRUTALLY ASSAULTED HIS MOTHER AND SOMEONE TRYING TO SAVE THEM BOTH. But go ahead, you keep going after this teacher in exactly the same way that you complained people were going after poor old Calvin, the nice guy you knew. Cause, what does it matter, you don't know the teacher, do you?
You m'dear are a hypocrite. You chewed people out for doing exactly what you are doing now. You owe everyone in that other thread an apology.
Oh, and yes I think this teacher is wrong wrong wrong, but then again, I thought Calvin's crime was beyond horrific.

Ok first of all I wasn't around 10 years ago when this sick b@st@rd was hitting on, making out with or what ever the hell he was doing with them! So I couldn't have stopped Sh**! Also I have NO mercy for pedaphila being as a was a victim of a man like this.
And as for Calvin your intitled to your opinion as I am to mine!

Just to let you know FedUP, I called the school after I graduated from college and was in the professional world. I felt guilty for not saying anything earlier, especially because i was working in foster care and my heart had become heavy for children being taken advantage of by pedophiles. There is not much any of us could of done. I spoke with the Sheriff and other people in the school district...the victim herself would have to come forward. That is pretty hard to do. The school assured me that they would keep a close look on him to ensure nothing like what happened in the past happened again...and they did catch him. I just hope and pray he can NEVER teach again.

sunkist - I was referring to others in here about not saying anything.
but the others have a point. you are being hypocritical, when you tell others not to judge calvin, because we dont know him, but you do the same thing with this creep.
shoot for all I care, those two scumbags could share a cell for a few months together. that would make for a reality show I might actually watch!
Posted by sunkistkisses on December 18, 2008 at 4:22 p.m. (Suggest removal)
No I don't owe anyone an apology! Because like I stated before we are all entitled to our opinion. Why should I apologize? Because I saw a side of him that you all didn't? Yes he's sick! Yes he was wrong and I do understand he murdered and innocent child. He deserves to pay for his crimes just like this teacher!
Posted by BeaHappi on December 18, 2008 at 4:31 p.m. (Suggest removal)
sunkistkisses...oh, you're killing me here. I think the point is that in your posts about Calvin you were upset because ppl didn't know the other side of him and were judging but on this story you too are judging this teacher. Obviously there are two sides to every story and this teacher, no matter what a creep he turns out to be, probably has a nice side too.
I know that you want to have hope but I honestly don't think you'll find a single person who will say at this point that Calvin can give something back to society if given the chance. I'm sorry, but he should not get a second chance. He forfeited any rights to that when he brutally murdered Sev'n.
We are judged by our last worst act. Calvin will is being judged by his. There is not much worse than what he did.

I'm always disgusted that sexual predators like Chester The Molester in yesterday's article (Mr. Pecci) and now Mr. Wright go on victimizing for as long as they do before getting caught. They're smart enough that they choose victims who are the least likely to complain or make waves. I'm glad this 15-year-old girl was brave enough to come forward. If Mr. Wright has other victims in his past, I sincerely hope that they seriously consider coming forward too. The last thing we need is for this man to get a slap on the wrist (or some other body part!) and move on to some other school where he can prey on new victims.

No Sunkist you didn't say everyone was entitled to their own opinion, you chastised the people who said Calvin deserved severe punishment because they didn't know him. You blamed everyone but the crazy man that did the attacking, and all those who disagreed with you basically told them they were horrible. Because "Calvin was a great guy," and you knew this being his friend.
You do owe the others an apology, but you have skewed your vision to make yourself feel better. I should know better than to have an intelligent argument with an unarmed opponent. Good Day Miss, enjoy your posting.

BeaHappi ~ There are 2 sides to every story and your all right I am being just a cruel as the rest of you when it comes to this teacher! However I see through these post that he has already screwed up more then once...just like the jacka** yesterday! And like I stated in yesterday's post I beleve everyone deserves a second chance...but in this case it's been discussed that he's had that oppertunity. As for Calvin I give up! just because I can see a glimps of hope in all scumbags doesn't mean the rest of you can...however I'm sick of all the sh** talking when it comes to someone having a different opinion then all the rest of you. Calvin will never be forgiven by you or the rest of societyand I would NEVER ask for that...and I see that however i was trying to show that there are 2 sides to every story and that's why I was a smart a** today when Shannon posted that comment.

FormerNPer ~ with Calvin it was personal! I knew him...and I was trying to prove that there are 2 sides to every story ! That there is more then what the media states.

And if you read my comment I was being a smarta** by stating no one cares about the good someones done...It's all in black an white here in the post. Someone could be the greatest individual in the world and screw up thats all people are ever going to remember them for. Think about it you really believe most of Moorpark will remeber him as a good teacher No they will remember him for this article. Just like Calvin people won't remember what good he did only that he "HE HACKED A 6 YEAR OLD TO DEATH WITH A CLEAVER, BRUTALLY ASSAULTED HIS MOTHER AND SOMEONE TRYING TO SAVE THEM BOTH."

"Just like Calvin people won't remember what good he did"
I'm sorry, but I dont know calvin. what good did he do? he was a drug abusing wife beater, and as of more recently, he brutally hacked to death an innocent 6 year old child. and then tried to kill those who were defending the innocent child. oh yeah, and he was so strung out on something, it took four officers and a taser to take him down. you know what, I am sure he had a good side to him.
you are no better than the gang banger sympathizers on here, who always come to the defense of those who shot or were shot. sorry if my quote is off: "he was such a good boy. he loved his nephews and his children. he would never harm anyone". I apologize if I spelled every word in that quote correctly. it might be harder to understand that way.

I could care less what "good" Calvin Sharp did; he's an evil person and killed a child. He deserves nothing. Ted Bundy was an intelligent person who had lots of credentials and he was a sicko! It's called SOCIOPATH.
As far as this article, this teacher has problems.

I'm a high school teacher. He will have his credential taken away and charges will be brought onto him. He will never teach again and will carry a felony on his record for the rest of his life. I think this shows what happens when a school district pays so little. Moorpark is by far the lowest paying district in southern cali... they attract and accept the lowest of the low... They need to raise their standards by raising their pay...

I agree Completely!!! This so called Teacher should have known better. Being an adult and a teacher,he is a pervert and into child porn probably....
FormerNPer ,UNREAL you can even compare this story to Calvin. Its a disgrass to compare the two!!!!

AnnaWhatt
I wasn't comparing the two. I was comparing the commentary by Sunkist. I would agree it's a "disgrace" to compare them. The teacher didn't cleave someone to death. Kind of makes you wonder why someone would defend Calvin and chew out everyone condemning Calvin saying he deserved a second chance. Then they come here to this thread and jump all over this teacher, calling him all sorts of horrible names. I'm still shaking my head over it.
As an additional commentary regarding these posts. I am seriously afraid that most of the people who post here were educated in the California School Systems. I can't believe the amount of incorrectly spelled words. I myself fight the poor education given to me at NPHS every day, often relying on spell check, but at least I try. Do people not care that others read their comments and have to decipher what word they are trying to convey? Come on people, use spell check!

FormerNPer--that comment you just left about the California school systems was perfect! I feel the exact same way. Thank God, I did not step into a California school. I moved to this state long after graduation. It drives me absolutely crazy when people spell things wrong because half the time I honestly don't know what it is that they're trying to say.

FormerNPer , I apologize, whoever brought Calvin into this should be ashamed !!! Sorry I thought it was your comment. Merry Christmas!
Answer: Even through High School after taking all the required classes they now have three tests that you HAVE to pass to graduate. I believe its reading, writing and Math. They are just tests. My Son took them in Junior High and passed all three then. If you do not pass them you can not graduate. Unfair to me, if you ask!
But there is usually someone who will help you with the test you are having difficulty with. In our case with one of my kids it was the librarian. She was great! Always there to help the children. Mrs. Shefferlie I belive was her name.

I believe this discussion has veered off course. From cell phone batteries, to Calvin, and now to inspirational librarians. I think the foundation of this discussion is no longer of interest. However, for me, I am patiently waiting to see and hear how all of this plays out. What do you guys think his ex-wife is thinking about all of this?
