Northshore subdivision plans ready for council

Plans for a 292-home subdivision in Oxnard are expected to go before the City Council for final approval next month, said Bill Teller, project manager for North Shore at Mandalay Bay.

Trimark Pacific Homes is proposing to build three neighborhoods, featuring different single-family home styles, on about 90 acres at the northeast corner of Harbor Boulevard and West Fifth Street.

The homes would range in size from 2,200 to 4,300 square feet, with three to five bedrooms, Teller said. Some would have ocean views. Prices are expected to range from about $700,000 to more than $1 million.

A proposal to build a peaker power plant north of the Trimark project is pending before the California Coastal Commission, which is set to discuss the plant at its Oct. 15-17 meeting in Ventura. The city of Oxnard and environmental groups oppose the plant.

If the plant is built, it would diminish the views of 30 to 40 homes and subject them to noise, Teller said.

Isn't that the area that was formally known as The Dunes? The same area where there was an abandoned petrolium dump, but because of it's proximity to the beach, developers built homes there anyway. As a result, homeowners were forced to abandon their homes in the 80's because the area was toxic and people got sick? Is this the same area?

I think your right. They have been rooting around there for couple years now. They will have to find rubes from LA to buy their new "Casa de Muertos de la Playa Vista" LOL

With the economy in the toilet, they want to build more homes that nobody can afford to buy...or finance. Lovely.
