At least we're not reading the "norm" report of how someone was shot/stabbed/killed yesterday. And who the F robs a store at "just before 2pm" - nice, stupid robbers, you have to pick the time right before school gets out on the 1st day of school. Thank god this wasnt an hour or so later. Lots of kids to go convienence stores after school for candy, drinks, etc. Hope they catch the trigger happy punks.

There seems to be more crime these days. This may be attributed to the "sagging" economy as some call it.
Apparently the desperation is growing in people to get $$ for whatever they need it for, resorting to less than contemporary means is the way to go.
There is more population in Oxnard than Ventura, so there are more criminals?
Hopefully, these a$$hats are apprehended before they do any more harm than they already have.

Sheesh! As much as I like living in Oxnard this is just getting ridiculous. It's happening every day now. They putting something in the water or what?

OMG...when will enough be enough? OPD can't be everywhere. I live pretty close to Patterson too and never go to that shopping center. Well, I went once and bread was like $6 or something ridiculous plus the place was just icky.

Jr and others...someone commented/complained last night on a story about the back and forth banter and the thread of email in Spanish. So I'm sure the moderator read the complaint and then sent email to all of you.

This is my 1st time posting, but I've read many articles and comments. While I was not the one who complained about the back and forth banter, I have to agree. Can we please stick to comments that deal with the articles? If you have "friends" on the site then maybe you need to take your discussions/banter to your personal email accounts. I personally don't want to read all the unrelated comments. I want to read about comments pertaining to the articles and how, as a community, we can make things better. That said: I live around the corner for this place and it's truly sad. I just happened to drive up (to pick up my dry cleaning) when the cops arrived. The clerk, who is a friendly man, was visibly shaken up. He was sitting in a chair outside looking completely lost. The cops and paramedics were assessing the scene and putting up crime scene tape. My child goes to McAuliffe school (not even a half mile away!) and dismissal is at 2:13 p.m. A few minutes more and there would have been children present. This MADNESS has to stop! Oxnard, for the most part, is a beautiful city. I grew up here. It's just like every other city: there are good parts and there are bad parts. The issue at hand is making it SAFE for our kids. I hope they find who did this. It cannot continue. People need to step up, speak up, and take back OUR city.

You're absolutely right: I can skip what I don't want to read, however I have to read some of it to figure out if it's off or on topic. Really, no one should have to skip any post when the rules clearly state:

This is for juniormafia_ny.......I also live a couple of minutes from this location, I know all the owners of each establishment and they are all good people just trying to make it, unlike the two asses that did what they did. Oxnard PD has alot of great cops and detectives, they will take care of business. We as the community need to stick together and we need to take back the authority that we used to have, we need to help our fellow neighbor at time of need, not hide behind our doors.

This is a serious incident, and concerns our city and the people in it. Perhaps the clowns who decide to make light of this incident will feel different about posts concerning crime, if they become victims to crime. I hope that doesn’t happen, but I'm sure they wont think it's funny then. As far as the area being shady, even the un-shady areas get robbed! Lighten up on the area. If you want to play, find a playgroud. I wish the Star would sensor more to keep the rif-raf out.

I was sitting with a friend in front of B&D BBQ when the robbery occurred just a few yards in front of me. One robber stopped as he was exiting the store to fire a shot. I told the cops what I could, but didn't see their faces or the car the drove away in. I hope they catch those two bastards and lock them up for a long time, but I fear that for them, it'll be just a few months hangin' with the homies.
There is simply no excuse for this, and I suspect the money they stole will probably wind up in their arms, making them feel good for a few hrs.

bigkoala, if you would have had a gun you could have shot this moke! You would have been a hero! Oxnard citizens need to start carrying concealed weapons, with permit of course, to defend yourself and other citizens.
