Kidnap suspect shoots self in Piru

A man suspected of kidnapping a woman at gunpoint from the Los Angeles area and sexually assaulting her fatally shot himself in Piru this morning, authorities said.
The 24-year-old man allegedly kidnapped his apparent girlfriend, 20, from her job in the City of Industry this morning, said Capt. Ross Bonfiglio of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
The man allegedly sexually assaulted the woman in the Piru area, Bonfiglio said. She called police at some point during the kidnapping.
The suspect eventually pulled over in the area of Sacramento Street and Main Street in Piru. At that point, the woman escaped and the man shot himself in the head while sitting in the car, Bonfiglio said.
The suspect was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center in critical condition.
He was pronounced dead at 11:35 a.m.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department was notified about the incident at 10:17 a.m.
Main Street was closed from Highway 126 to Sacramento Street as a result of the incident, Bonfiglio said.

Im glad the girlfriend was not hurt, but making fun of the man that killed himself is not good either. everyone that dies there is always someone that loved him as well as hated him. he was someones son,brother,cousin uncle. or even father, yah he is an a** for doing what he did but he is dead now.

hirgrl: Understood that there's always two sides to a story, but no one made him kidnap and sexually assault the girl before he killed himself. If he hadn't done that before the suicide, I'm almost sure no one would be making the comments that they are making.

Hey george1234, I saw the ambulance sitting on the side of the road near the last fruit stand across from the Arco station with lights goin and the driver standing with the door open and it looked like the driver was taking a leak. After I was sitting in line on Main for a bit, then the ambulance showed up. He had passed me in Fillmore and I made it to the scene b-4 him. I think he did take his time getting there unless he really was taking a leak...That's what it looked like to me. I guess that would be priority first b-4 a person with gunshot.

Granted this guy kidnapped his "girlfriend" and assaulted her but he is still someones son, brother, uncle, whatever. Have some class and let his death go already. Imagine if this was your son and you are reading the article only to find out how funny this is to everyone.

Again. If he simply committed suicide...then you have a point. I'm a guy, but even I can admit that sexual assault is a heinous crime that should be punished to the full extent for the damage it does to a woman for years into the future. His actions, whether you're related to the guy or not, are inexcusable and cannot be put aside just because he took his own life. Even bible thumpers would call that a sin.

juniormafia, My thoughts exactly! Geez its a sad world when so many people are glad some guy killed himself!!!! Obviously he had issues. This sickens me also.
Sexuality assaulted could be he tried to kiss her against her will...........to a number of things. We dont know and probably wont for awhile. I am just Thankful she was able to escape and get out before he killed himself. Maybe she didn't have to witness it. Hoping......

There is no doubt a very bad thing happened today.
It will reverberate beyond the young man and woman involved. Family, friends, the law officers on the scene, the 1st responders....it's just awful anyway you put it.
Worse though...are some of the inane comments on this board. Folks with little knowledge and agendas to advance.

"janabanana71" It would have saved the ambulance for others that need it. Instead they had to take this loser to the hospital. Had they taken a little longer, he would have been dead and never been transported. Plus, you and I (assuming you pay taxes) will eat the bill. Sorry, should have been more explanitory in my post.

I't makes me sad reading all your comments. I'm a friend of the family who just lost one of their loved ones and it hurts. I just cannot imagine how will the family feel when they read your messages you don't have the right to be glad for someone's death. He was a good guy, hardworking, good son and brother. The only thing he did wrong is getting obsessed with someone that did not LOVED him.

if she was really kidnapped, she had chances of escape, and did she, no!
why would she continue to call him and tell him that she loved him. If she didnt want anything to do w/ him why would she do that?

Sorry, all the people above and just to add to this, Im one of his close friends that knew how much he loved her. He was the the nicest person ever. He wouldnt even hurt a fly.
