Morning Report: Man stabbed, robbed outside liquor store

Police and Fire: An Oxnard man was stabbed and robbed outside a local liquor store late Tuesday night, police said.
The robbery occurred about 11:11 p.m. in the parking lot outside Goodie Liquor at 1271 South Saviers Road in Oxnard, according to a prepared statement from the Oxnard Police Department.
The 27-year-old victim told officers he was sitting in his car when a man opened his door and demanded money.
The victim turned away and the robber stabbed him in the area of his cheek, said Sgt. Steve Kawaguchi of the Oxnard police.
The robber then took an unopened 24-ounce Budweiser beer and ran to a waiting car, according to the statement.
The victim was taken to St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard for treatment of a facial laceration. His injury was not life threatening, police said.
The robber was described as a man about 5-feet 6-inches tall with a medium build, wearing a grey and black flannel, shorts and a hat.
Police encourage anyone with information about the stabbing to contact Det. Ed Baldwin at 385-7688 or call the Violent crimes hotline at 982-7070. Callers can remain anonymous.

Traffic: At 6:46 a.m., the California Highway Patrol was reporting that water from a sprinkler was causing a traffic hazard on the northbound Moorpark Road offramp from Highway 101 in Thousand Oaks.

Weather: Low clouds and fog are reducing visibilities to less than one-quarter mile in some parts of the county this morning, but sunny and warm conditions are expected later today, the National Weather Service reported.
Forecasters predict high temperatures ranging from the 70s at beaches to the upper 90s in inland valleys.
Winds up to 15 miles per hour are expected in many parts of the county today.

Good morning - didnt someone just post on here yesterday that it is a shame that every morning report is just reporting when and where someone was stabbed the night before? I swear....it's in every morning report.

man need a drink that bad lets see. assault with a deadly weapon intent to cause bodily harm 3 to 5 years or petty theft probation, a fine maybe a couple of days in jail which one would i choose?

I suggest the citizens of Oxnard start applying for a concealed weapon permit. I bet all these idiots would think twice before they confronted someone. The reason for the application would be...to take care of the "home grown terrorists" who keep the citizens fearing for one's own life.

This was probably a nice college boy who wasn't of age to buy his own beer. Another good reason to lower the drinking age to 18. Crimes like this could be avoided.

The economy is getting bad when people start stabbing folks over beer and smokes.The victim should buy his beer at Rite Aid in the middle of the night.Drink at home not on the streets.I would have bought the criminal a 2.00 beer if he would have asked.
