A 20-year-old man was seriously injured in an Oxnard stabbing, police said.

The stabbing occurred about 11 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of South E Street, according to Oxnard police.

The victim, an Oxnard resident, told police that he was smoking a cigarette outside an apartment complex when two men approached. He told police that one of the men pulled out an unknown object and stabbed him twice in the back.

The victim escaped into the complex, and the assailants left, heading south on E Street.

The victim was taken to St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard. His wounds were serious but not life-threatening, police said.

Investigators believe that the stabbing might have been gang-related, although the victim is not associated with a gang, police said.

Both assailants were described as in their mid-20s, about 5 feet 8 inches, with medium builds, police said. One was wearing a dark blue shirt and black pants, while the other had a shaved head and a mustache and was wearing a white shirt.

I noticed. Of course I notice this quite often of late. In addition to that, some stories will run as much as three days on the front page under the banner, "Breaking News". For some reason, the same amount of professional endeavor does not apply to the online version of The Star as it does the printed version or so it seems.
