Morning Report: Man injured in stabbing

Police and Fire: A 20-year-old man was seriously injured late Monday night in a stabbing in Oxnard, police said.

The stabbing occurred just after 11 p.m. in the 100 block of South E Street, according to a prepared statement from the Oxnard Police Department.

The victim, an Oxnard resident, told police he was smoking a cigarette outside of an apartment complex when two men approached him, according to the statement. One of the man pulled out an unknown object and stabbed him twice in the back.

The victim escaped into the apartment complex, and the assailants left the scene heading southbound on E Street.

The victim was taken in an ambulance to St. John’s Regional medical Center in Oxnard. His wounds were serious but not life threatening, police said.

Investigators believe the stabbing may be gang related though the victim is not associated with a gang, police said.

The assailants were described as men in their mid 20s, both about 5-feet 8-inches tall with medium builds, police said. One was wearing a dark blue short and black pants, while the other had a shaved head and a mustache and was wearing a white shirt.

Police are asking anyone with information about the stabbing to contact Det. Alex Arnett at 486-6297 or call the violent crimes hotline at 982-7070.

----------

Traffic: At 6:59 a.m., the California Highway Patrol was reporting a glass pump causing a traffic hazard on Balcom Canyon Road at Los Angeles Avenue outside Camarillo.

An ambulance responded about 6:25 a.m. today to a report of a solo vehicle over the side of the roadway on Lindero Canyon Road just south of Bowfield Street between Thousand Oaks and Oak Park, the CHP reported.

----------

Weather: Mostly sunny and warm conditions are expected throughout the county today, the National Weather Service reported.

Forecasters predict high temperatures in the lower to mid 70s at beaches and into the mid 90s in mountains and valleys.

Pathy low clouds and fog reducing visibility to one-quarter mile or less along the coast this morning are expected to clear out later today.

Wind gusts to 30 miles per hour are expected in local mountains.

Juniormafia,
He had a t-shirt that said "cut here".
That was one fact they left out.

I agree, the victim didn't tell the cops everything.

Has anyone noticed that this is the same street that the wonderful mixed up kid Jeffery Aguilar shot at police on Saturday? Payback for being a rat? Who knows.

Of course crime happens in other cities but Oxnard is getting rediculous. It needs a fence around it and everyone can just go for it!

The economy must be pretty bad when people are stabbing each other every other week.I would like some positive news stories in the morning. Can we save the stabbings and the shootings for after lunch.

I just wish they all would stab each other to death or shoot it out and get it over with. Taking out each other one at a time is going too slow.

Maybe this was the guy that ratted out Jeff Aguilar?

These crimes aren't random people.

Lots of comments on why this guy was stabbed...like if there is a reason, it's ok???

CamDad...Stereotyping Simi valley residents as "rednecks"....Im a redneck...and I live in your city of less crime...Please dont lump me in with those that happen to live in Simi...That offends me...

Why can't the Oxnard criminals and gang bangers move to San Fransicko, California, where there is a criminal sanctuary policy?

Posted by Latina_805 on August 26, 2008 at 10:58 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I don't think the two incidents are related. Although both are on E street they are in completely different sides of Oxnard. But how knows?

CAMDAD: "Just out of curiosity, when was the last time a Camarillo resident murdered an Oxnard resident?"

...that got reported by the STAR or that happened and did not reach headlines?

CAMDAD: Recently a Moorpark man had his Camarillo Wife killed in the SF Valley? Which city is to blame?

Does that mean Moorpark has more crime? or does that mean that the SF Valley has more crime? or does that mean that Camarillo has more crime since he "used to" live in Camarillo and maybe picked up his criminal ways in Camarillo and even though it happened in the Valley, Moorpark is to blame because Camarillo is not and SF is not or is....we could go on and on CAMDAD.

The fact is every city has their crimes being commmitted. Otherwise, why have law enforcement in Camarillo? I mean, just put up a wall and keep all people that are not legally Camarillo residents to stay out. In fact, you can split up Camarillo and call it West Camarillo and East Germany..oops...I mean Camarillo (you would be on the Eastern side of the fence of course).

Isn't that criminal sanctuary called San Quentin?

You're paranoid.

Well I don't want a fence around all of Oxnard, but I do like the idea of rounding up all of the bad guys and letting them go at each other.

Pendejos!

Crime and violence are colorblind. No city is safer or better than the other one.Camarillo and Simi Valley have gangs and crime but they just hide it better than Oxnard and Ventura. Mexicans aren't the only ones committing crimes in this area they just seem to be the only ones attracting the attention. These foreclosures will cause crime and violence to increase because of a lack of money and lack of options.I want to live in a perfect world with perfect people. Camdad can you point me in the direction of perfection??

high_society - what website do you get your 411. Can you share?

CAMDAD:

Technically, you never asked for an example of a gang-related incident, merely a Camarillo resident killing an Oxnard resident. Can I get a "touche" for that one?

That East/West Germany thing was all tongue in cheek.

I'd take Cozumel over Camarillo any day.

Let's call a spade a spade...yes, Camarillo has crime too but no where near the volume of my beloved Oxnard.

Population is higher in Oxnard; median income level likely MUCH lower, and let's face it...soccer moms don't solve their differences with knives and guns. :~)

However, there are many good things about living in Oxnard too. The weather, beaches, my neighbors to name a few. The best that we can all do, no matter where we live, is to have good heads up about what's going on and get involved with our communities.

Now, about that wall for the gangbangers...who knows a good fence company?

Posted by Adam_Monroe on August 26, 2008 at 1:49 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Actually, David Kieth posted a few weeks back that Ventura's crime rate per capita is actually HIGHER than Oxnard's....I wish I could find that again...I believe it was obtained from FBI statistics...

But why are we even talking about this? Every few days, this comment board sounds like a broken record...

Adam:

Here is that article. He states that VTA and SB are higher in crime (per capita) than the 'Nard.

juniormafia_ny...slightly under fed ~ that's awesome!

I think I'd just keep the prisoners so crazy busy that they wouldn't have time for any shenanigans. They'd each have a chore list and would have to earn things like TV, magazines, visits, etc.

Think of how nice the prison could look with everyone pitching in! Painting, paving, cleaning, scrubbing, recycling, gardening of food to be used in the prison, etc. And then the lower security guys would earn the privilege of helping out in the local community with whatever was needed.

Their one day of rest would consist of church, reading, and writing sentences like "I will not rob a bank" over and over again.
