Strickland to speak in Council on Aging's live broadcast

The Thousand Oaks Council on Aging will begin its new year Sept. 3 with a live broadcast from the third-floor boardroom in the City Hall building at the Civic Arts Plaza, council Chairman Harry Norkin said.

Assemblywoman Audra Strickland, R-Moorpark, will speak about the state budget and how it affects seniors. Norkin said last week that Strickland was the only person to accept the council's invitation to speak.

Norkin asks attendees to come with questions for the speaker, and the meeting is open to the public.

The show will air on TOTV Channel 10. It also can be viewed online at http://www.toaks.org by clicking on TOTV. It will kick off the council's televised public speaker series on the first Wednesday of each month.

The Civic Arts Plaza is at 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.

Strickland and all of the other legislators should be doing nothing other than resolving the budget impasse. Even Governor Schwarzenegger canceled all of his engagements, pending resolution of the budget crisis. The budget crisis ought to be the most significant priority for all our legislators. Shame on Strickland for demonstrating an embarrassing lack of common sense. Strickland, if you're reading this, get of your a$$ and do what you're paid to do, resolving the State's problems instead of trying to earn brownie points with seniors. Shame on you!!!!
