CAMARILLO

Healing music concert planned

A concert of music used by healers and massage therapists will be featured at the Camarillo Center for Spiritual Living at 7 p.m. Aug. 30.

Michael Mandrell plays six- and 12-string guitars fusing Celtic, Indian, jazz and new age music. He has toured with Spyro Gyra, William Ackerman and Shadowfax.

Anton Mizerak plays keyboards and harmonica and tours extensively. His CD series "When Angels Dream" has been a top seller among healers and massage therapists.

A $15 donation will be accepted at the event.

The Center for Spiritual Living, located at 340 Mobil Ave., is an interdenominational church based on the teachings of the Science of Mind. Sunday services and Children's Church are at 10:30 a.m.

World Music Sunday event set for Aug. 31

World Music Sunday will be celebrated at the Camarillo United Methodist Church when an ensemble group performs a collection of worship music taken from "The Faith We Sing" at the 9 and 10:30 a.m. services Aug. 31.

Selections for the morning will include: African-American spirituals, music from the Taize region of France and the Iona community of Scotland, plus pieces from Hawaii and Africa. The ensemble of church members will sing in a variety of languages and be accompanied by instrumentalists.

Infrared hearing sets and large print bulletins will be available.

Temple Ner Ami to hold annual picnic

Temple Ner Ami will be having its annual Summer in the Sun Picnic from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Mission Oaks Community Park, 5501 Mission Oaks Blvd.

This picnic is being offered to members and those who are interested in finding out about Temple Ner Ami, and meeting Temple Ner Ami members, families, staff, youth groups, teens, teachers and clergy.

Temple will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, condiments and more.

Guests are invited to participate by signing up to bring salad, drink or dessert.

Temple Ner Ami has also announced that Torah School registration is open for classes beginning Monday.

Classes are available for: Pre-K through eighth grade, Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation, confirmation and Teen Connection for High School Students.

Center Stage Opera to perform Sunday

Center Stage Opera of San Fernando Valley will preview its 2009 program with selections from Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro," Gounod's "Faust," selections from their past operatic productions and favorites from Broadway. The event will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, 1 Church Road.

The performance is sponsored by The Arts at St. Patrick's Performing Arts Ministry of St. Patrick's Episcopal Church of Thousand Oaks.

Admission is free, but free-will offerings will be requested.
