Cronies hosts fundraiser for Probasco

Cronies Sports Grill in Ventura is hosting a fundraiser in J.D. Probasco's honor on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Probasco, a Buena High graduate and coach, died on Tuesday at age 23.

Cronies is located at 2855 Johnson Drive. Anyone who attends must mention they are there for the fundraiser for a portion of the proceeds to go toward the cause.

Conejo announces champions, finalists

The following teams finished as champions or finalists in the Conejo Recreation and Park District summer leagues:

Margaritaville, Wednesday Coed B District champion; Destructive Dinks, Wednesday Coed B District finalist; Déjà vu, Wednesday C1 District champion; Volleybrawlers, Wednesday Coed C1 District finalist; Set-It-Up, Wednesday Coed C2 Volleyball champion; Jett Setters, Wednesday Coed C2 District finalist; Netmonkeys, Sunday Coed C2 champion; Notorious D.I.G., Sunday Coed C2 District finalist; EV Free 2, Sunday Coed C3 District champion; EV Free 2, Sunday Coed C3 District finalist.

SOCCER

Lisberger named All-American

Amanda Lisberger, the former Camarillo Eagles national championship club standout, was named to the 2008 EA Sports All-America girls' soccer team. Lisberger, a product of Brentwood School, is a freshman for the eighth-ranked University of Texas team.

In her college debut, she had a goal and one assist in a 3-1 exhibition win at Loyola Marymount.

SOFTBALL

Oxnard's Garcia to play in Florida

Priscilla Garcia, a standout from Oxnard High and the Ventura County Misfits, has received a scholarship from Okaloosa-Walton College in Florida.

Garcia batted .314 with 22 hits and seven RBIs for the Yellowjackets. Garcia plays third base and can also pitch.
