Local politicians to speak at prison hospital meeting
Local politicians are expected to speak at tonight's Prison Hospital Action Committee meeting, to be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Ventura County Office of Education's Camarillo conference center, 5100 Adolfo Road. The meeting is open to the public.
Those who have confirmed their attendance, according to committee coordinator Kathi Miller, are county Supervisor Kathy Long; Ferial Masry, a Democratic candidate running to represent the 37th Assembly District; and Hannah-Beth Jackson, a Democratic candidate running in the 19th Senate District. Rondi Guthrie, district director for Assemblywoman Audra Strickland, R-Moorpark, will represent Strickland if she is unable to attend, Guthrie said.
The committee is trying to stop the construction of a 1,500-bed hospital for physically and mentally ill prison inmates outside of Camarillo. The proposed hospital is part of a federal receiver's plan to bring California's prison healthcare system into accordance with a federal court order. The court found the quality of healthcare to be so poor that it violates inmates' constitutional rights.

Every politician is hanging their hats on the prison. I hope some of them start pointing out the obvious - the situation should have been addressed years ago by the people elected to office.

Katie Teague...
Exactly! Fact is, none of them cared enough nor did they have enough vision to calculate the problems they were causing by ignoring the obvious.

I went to your meeting. I came. I Saw, and wasn't impressed.
If you think you are going to beat Mr. Kelso in court with litigation on EIR issues you are sadly mistaken, you don't have the resources, time or money to do so..
You want to beat Mr. Kelso follow the money. You need to google the Inspector General's Report on the Califonia Prison Receivership. This will give a clear idea as to how Mr. Kelso is spending your tax dollars to build his mega prisons, to reduce the over population problem that currently exist.
It's nice to see the support of all who attended, however there should be two or three thousand people showing up at these meetings for support.
Not only! those who live on the hill.
For all of you panel members, thanks for riding on my coat tails and you clearly don't get it, like Mr.Kelso.
When you have been to half the prisons in this state and watched the other half being built, to include Coalinga State Hospital the largest prison hospital in the country, and work in a prison yourself, then and then only you might get it, and be able idealize with what
I have to say.
Oh, and by the way have you ever worked for Clark Kelso?
I think not or you would get it.
I will talk with you, when you do get it.......
Otherwise don't waste my time.

I support the prison hospital and the jobs it will bring to the area. The snobs on the hill will just have to get over it.
Perhaps we can divert all the water going to one of the golf courses to the prison and turn the golf course back to it's natural habitat; with trails for hikers and picnic areas for all citizens in the community.
That might help to ease the impact to the community. Besides the new prison hospital will employ more workers and pay better wages then the golf course.
