What: The Moorpark City Council will hold a public hearing for a prescreening application by TriLiad Development Inc. for a land-use designation change at 11289 Los Angeles Ave. It's the first application to build a 35-acre movie studio lot by Commonwealth Studios, with a 14-stage independent filming complex.

CAMARILLO
What: A chat night about the Camarillo White Horses, which have participated in the Tournament of Roses Parade, the 1936 opening of the Oakland Bay Bridge and the opening of the 1932 Olympic Games, among other events. The Camarillo White Horse Association manages a breeding program for the horses. A $5 donation is requested of those who attend.

What: The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum will open Forever Free, a glimpse into Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War now through Oct. 24. The exhibit is meant to prelude several days in September when the original Emancipation Proclamation will be on display.

WESTLAKE VILLAGE
What: World Vision Experience: AIDS — Step into Africa, a multimedia, interactive exhibit that allows visitors to step into the lives of children affected by HIV and AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa, the hardest hit region in the world. Visitors walk through a replica of an African village and experience the effects of the pandemic as they listen to a personal audio track relating the story of one of four real children.

What: Assemblyman Pedro Nava, the ProCare Foundation, and the Veteran Steering Committee of Ventura County will be hosting its third annual Veterans Health & Resource Fair. The fair will feature representatives from county, state and federal veterans agencies and local healthcare organizations who will provide information regarding benefits, healthcare and free health screenings. Food and entertainment will be available. There will also be the Oral History Project, in which stories will be recorded so that future generations do not forget the sacrifices of veterans. Veterans are encouraged to bring historical photos for the interviews.

What: The American Red Cross of Ventura County is offering a Dog First Aid class. Attendees will learn how to administer medication, recognize an actual emergency, determine dehydration, and perform CPR and first aid. In addition, participants will receive the American Red Cross Dog First Aid book with instructions on how to care for injured pets. Cost of the course is $50. Preregistration is required.

What: Blues and soul music concert, free for cancer patients, survivors and their families. Will be performed by cancer survivor Francesca Capasso and her band, Some Like It Hot. The band has been voted one of the top 100 unsigned bands several years in a row by the Music Connection Magazine.
