Two-vehicle crash leaves one woman dead
A 67-year-old Simi Valley woman died from multiple blunt-force injuries in a two-vehicle crash, the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office reported Thursday.
Shirley Green was found in the driver's seat of a vehicle that collided with another at Kuehner Drive and Katherine Road at 10:51 a.m. Wednesday, Simi Valley police said.
The driver of the second vehicle was a woman, not a man as originally reported. She suffered minor to moderate injuries, police said, as did her three juvenile passengers.
The injured were taken to Simi Valley Hospital and Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation Thursday.

This may not be related to this accident but I just want say that it's amazing that there aren't more accidents along Kuehner between LA and Santa Susana Pass road. The speeding along that stretch is amazing. It starts at LA and when people get through the turn onto Kuehner where many of them actually accellerate through the turn, testing their cars capabilities I guess, and then keep the gas pedal to the floor all the way to Box Canyon. If your a normal driver, be prepared to have somebody tailgating you all the way through the pass, especially in the morning. The other day I was walking along that area and there were about 20 high school kids jogging, some of them in the bike lane in the street, a recipe for disaster if you ask me.

I am writing in regards to that accident. The woman that passed away was my mother-in-law. I can assure you that she was always the most safest driver I know and to this moment, we still don't know what was the cause of the accident but I do know that people seem to think that that piece of road is a raceway. The damage to the vehicle was in my opinion was caused by a vehicle traveling much faster than the posted 45 MPH. The Ventura County Sheriff's should really start nailing the speeders there before someone else dies like my mother-in-law had to.

I am truly sorry for your loss, and agree that some attention needs to be given to this stretch of road. As Kuehner narrows to one lane, these knuckleheads seem to think that any risk is acceptable if it will get them one car length ahead going into the canyon. And tailgating? Once you get someone on your tail, you don't lose them until you are all the way through Box Canyon and well into the Valley. I just don't get it.
