A man with a handgun robbed a jewelry store in the Simi Valley Town Center on Monday night, police said.

The robber walked into Ben Bridge Jewelers at 1555 Town Center Way at 8:48 p.m., just before closing time. He brandished a handgun in a threatening manner and ordered the clerk to hand over jewelry, said Sgt. Adam Darough, spokesman for the Simi Valley police.

The clerk handed over jewelry, and the robber started to leave the store. As he left, another store employee tried to grab the bag of stolen jewelry from the robber, inadvertently causing him to drop his gun, police said.

The robber then left the store and jumped into a car along with another man who was waiting outside.

No shots were fired and no one was injured in the robbery.

Police recovered the handgun and later found the getaway vehicle abandoned in a restaurant parking lot near Madera Road and Cochran Street in Simi Valley, Darough said.

The other employee that tried to grab the bag of stolen jewelry from the robber is luckey he didn't get shot. I don't know how much Ben Bridge pays, but it isn't enough to get shot.
