A local ceramics studio will sponsor a fundraiser Sunday to raise awareness for neurofibromatosis and funding for future research.
Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder of the nervous system that causes tumors to form on the nerves anywhere in the body at any time.
"We would like to contribute any way we can in the effort to raise money for NF," said Pamm Deluca, owner of the paint-your-own-pottery studio Simply Ceramics in Janss Marketplace, 193 N. Moorpark Road.
She noted the genetic disorder affects 1 in every 3,000 newborns in the U.S.
The gathering will be from 5 to 8 p.m., when people will come together for a "Paint for NF" event. There will be more than 500 ceramic pieces to choose from, and a portion of the proceeds from all ceramic purchases will be donated to NF research.
Raffle tickets and a silent auction also will be held.
