Eight tall ships, replicas of sailing vessels used in the 18th and 19th centuries, will be anchored for a festival from Thursday to Aug. 10 in Channel Islands Harbor as part of the American Sail Training Association's Tall Ships Challenge race from Canada to San Diego.
There will be battle re-enactment sails, a pirate camp, tours and educational programs. Ships will be open for visitors, beginning Friday.
Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for children 3 to 12. Tickets can be purchased with cash at the festival or online with a credit card at http://www.tallshipschannelislands.com and through Ticketmaster.
