Rotary clubs will hold service day at camp
Four East County Rotary clubs will combine volunteer forces Saturday for a "Rotary Gives Thanks" community service day at Camp Rotary in Corriganville Park.
Volunteers from the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise, Rotary Club of Simi Sunset, Rotary Club of Simi Valley and Rotary Club of Moorpark will work together to get Camp Rotary ready for summer activity programs. Camp Rotary is an urban campground for local youth organizations to use for programs, education, recreation and interaction.
The scheduled work, from 8 a.m. to noon, includes painting and repairing, cleaning up trash and debris, leveling areas damaged in the recent rains and removing unwanted plants.
Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District is supplying the paint and rollers, a dumpster and trash bags, tools and safety equipment. But volunteers are encouraged to take shovels, rakes, clippers, wheelbarrows and rain boots (for creek walkers).
Camp Rotary is at the eastern end of Corriganville Park, 7001 Smith Road. Camp Rotary can be reached either by the maintenance access road or the park's Loop Trail.
