Capps endorses Obama

Congresswoman has ties to both campaigns

WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Lois Capps today endorsed Barack Obama for president, handing him another superdelegate vote in the drawn-out battle for the Democratic nomination.

Capps, who has ties to both Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton, said the decision wasn't easy.

Both Bill and Hillary Clinton helped Capps win election to her seat in the House. Her son-in-law, Bill Burton, is a spokesman for the Obama campaign.

"I believe both Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama would make fine presidents," Capps said in a statement. "But Sen. Obama's proven judgment, his hopeful vision for America, and his unmatched ability to motivate millions of Americans eager for change made the choice for me."

Capps, of Santa Barbara, cited a number of reasons for her decision to back Obama.

"He has promoted smart policies to address our nation's greatest challenges," she said. "He was right on Iraq when so many were wrong. He speaks with an eloquence that most public officials can only dream of and is inspiring millions of Americans to reconnect with politics or connect for the first time."

"And," she said, "he can win in November."

But while all those reasons are important, Capps said, Obama is the better choice "because of something larger and perhaps more important."

"Simply put, he has made a call to the better angels of our nature," she said. " I believe in his effort to put our country on a new path and want to help him make that happen."

Woohoo, Clinton's going down like a sweet muffin.

Here in Ventura County we have right wing nutjob Elton Gallegly. To the north is a genuine left wing nutjob, Lois Capps. When is our area going to start sending people to congress who have a brain?

Posted by Face on April 30, 2008 at 12:02 p.m. (Suggest removal)

jw1000 just used the term 'left wing nutjob'. Isn't that one of the Seven Seals prophesied in Revelation? "Let he who can see, The trumpets sounded and the 5th Seal was unopened and jw1000 labeled a democrat politician 'left wing nutjob'. Know thee now the end is near!"
Seriously though, can someone explain how a Superdelegate from a Clinton state can vote Obama? Oh that's right... Democrat is a name, not a policy.

A superdelegate may cast their vote for whomever they choose and if you listen to Hildog you don't need to follow your constingents, it may be better to follow your heart.

OOOH wait...I get it now. It's funny because you weren't really serious. Oh HAHAHAHA. Too funny. The sarcasm meter is going through the roof.

BTW, and slightly on topic, can you believe the audacity of those crazy left wing nutjobs with a new ad showing soldiers being blown up in Iraq and putting John McCains "100 year war" in context?

Do you see what i did there?

I compared it to the outrage of the GOP over the ad. Kinda like the pot calling the kettle black. That's the comparison.

There's absolutely nothing funny about our soldiers dying in Iraq. It's saddening.

If it were up to John McCain, he'd put a stop to it when he's 171 years old.

Oh Lois, Lois, Lois. Tsk, Tsk. Tsk.

Posted by bugmenot on April 30, 2008 at 12:29 p.m. (Suggest removal)

You echo the GOP's "outrage" with the ad, that it shows soldiers being blown up. There's one scene in ad that shows munitions going off and in the background and the shockwave on the soldiers. Other scenes show the aftermath of explosions or files. There are no soldiers being blown up. The video of the shockwave and the soldiers is powerful and has been used all over the place. The outrage is fake and quite hypocritical of the GOP, in my opinion, especially after a whole new round of attack ads on Obama. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/...

Obama is the only candidate that can turn the USA around from the dangerous and foolish road it has gone down for the past 20 years.

Vote 4 Obama cause he is a long-legged mac daddy. He's going to put everything to right. Watch and see.

No way. Wright is a traitor that got turned by the man. He's going to get his taint handed to him when the revolution comes.

mm: My dissatisfaction with Gallegly comes from his 97% voting record in support of Bush. The sixth highest in congress.

This liberal Democrat wishes Hillary would get lost! She stinks. And yes I'm female!!!!

Clinton = Crap
Obama = Crap
McCain = Crap. Just not as much crap as the other two.

It's a best of the worst race.

Posted by Pogmothoin on April 30, 2008 at 2:23 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Clinton = Bill Clinton
McCain = Bush
Obama = Obama

It's just common sense.

Posted by vae4usc on April 30, 2008 at 2:37 p.m. (Suggest removal)

The common sense switch must have been turned off while following "Rev." Wright

Posted by Pogmothoin on April 30, 2008 at 2:40 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Yeah, there's a lot of common sense in the idea of being in Iraq for the next 100 years. Time to retire pops and let the younger generation take over.

Obama is not a communist and he's not a Muslim either. The Rev. Wright is a NON ISSUE, just like the Kennedy/Pope connection is a non-issue. Your falling to a very stupid logic trap.

Typical r-tard voter in 1960 -

Hmmm, Kennedy is Catholic, Pope is Catholic, Popes have helped Nazi's in the past, so Kennedy must Like Hitler. My god I'm voting for Nixon.

It just really bothers me that any other "rookie" democratic senator would have absolutely no chance for the run at president but Obama is getting a chance because he is black. And dont get me wrong, I am no racist by any means. In fact I am a hispanic male that lives in Oxnard but it is true. It holds true even by example. Cue Rev. Wright.
And lets be completely honest here Hillary nor Obama is going to solve the Iraq problem. Our troops will be in there still in 4 years. Over 100k troops and all the logistical things there. Puleeze!!!

Anyone voting for Obama will be singing a different tune when you see who he has for a cabinet, and what terrible things he will do against this country. After all his wife is not even proud of her own country. Obama is going to look out for a certain group of people and if you aren't in "his" group, your gonna be in big trouble. His following is like a cult and he is going to be another slick willy, and will say anything to get elected an you all are buying into it. I would rather be a happy conservative than a mad liberal any day. I think for myself and not what the left wing tells me to do.

Posted by bugmenot on April 30, 2008 at 4:53 p.m. (Suggest removal)

whatever,

I'd rather take the "risk" of Obama being a radical than knowing what I'd get with McCain or Hildog.

It's not like it can be worse that our current administration.

Lets not forget:
Obama = illegal immigration
Capps = illegal immigration
Mccain = illegal immigration
Clinton = illegal immigration

And here is the result:

mmshoot,

I can't agree more with you!

I have voted for the 'least of 2 evils' all of my life.

I can't stand ANY of the candidates they are putting up!

This is nuts! These three are the best qualified people we have to run the country!!!???!!!

uuugggghhhh, we are doomed.

Classic statement by Ms Capps, "I believe both Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama would make fine presidents," Capps said in a statement. "But Sen. Obama's proven judgment..." Judgment? 20 yrs of Jeremiah Wright? In cahoots with Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn (Weather Underground Terrorists), and friends / neighbors with indicted political fundraiser Antoin "Tony" Rezko, not to mention his wife, Michelle's classic statements about our country. And on and on...but hey, I'm just a bitter working class voter who clings to guns and my religion.

Hahahaha in the end Clinton will get the endorsement and she will slightly beat McCain. I have seen the future!!!

No president past, present or future, has ever or will ever resolve the problem of illegal immigration.

Especially now with the creation of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America www.spp.gov

The SPP is working hard to "Identify measures to facilitate further, the movement of business persons within North America".

"The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) was launched in March of 2005 as a trilateral effort to increase security and enhance prosperity among the United States, Canada and Mexico through greater cooperation and information sharing."

They further state . . .
"The SPP provides the framework to ensure that North America is the safest and best place to live and do business. It includes ambitious security and prosperity programs to keep our borders closed to terrorism yet open to trade."

The Obama campaign announced Thursday that former Democratic National Committee Chairman Joe Andrew — who was appointed to that post in 1999 by then-President Clinton — is withdrawing his endorsement of Hillary Clinton, and backing Barack Obama instead.

It's over Hildog, it's over.

I'm all for a woman to be president, just not THAT woman. And Obama, while he seems fairly genuine, he's still anti-gun, pro illegal immigration, and Democrat. Having said that, I don't like McCain much either, and I'm a Rep. female; he's seems like a slimey used car salesman. I agree that there HAS to be other more qualified ppl to run. I'm gonna stick to my guns and religion, too. I almost don't wanna vote...

Posted by Pogmothoin on May 1, 2008 at 2:58 p.m. (Suggest removal)

ravensnest13 - Being pro something doesn't mean your going to get what you want. Bush is a pro-life president and he didn't get a ban on abortion. You got to look at the big picture, what can this man do for this country. Based on that, Obama is the only real choice.

I sincerely hope Oh my Bama wins by disenfranchising the Democrat electorate.

Sing this to the tune of Daisey Dukes:

CHORUS:
Oh Obama... What's that drama?
Your Reverend Wright is a racist...
(I want cha to)
Grab up those super del e gates...
(Everybody)
Win by Dis en fran chise ment...
(I want cha to)
Lean as far left as you can get...

Verse:
Say look at them bills you voted on
Obama you really got it goin' on
Lookin' all nice 'n' left
That votin' record's got you def
I do like it NOT
When you showin' me alil somethin' watcha got
Yo 'bama won your last race so easy it makes me queasy
The way ya'll kickin' wit Wright and then refute

CHORUS Repeat

Verse:
Hey you in the black boots
Hanging out with someone of Wright's repute
Lookin' real fly while in cahoots
In the church like you do to
Im Sno here to relate to you
Gonna start a trend of Obama spew
Eversince some of the 90's
'Bama's lookin' weak with a future behind see
Many terms are used to express
We're talkin' 'bout the duty
Not the rests
'Bama got flak and a junk in the trunk
Wright's got a six-pack
Gives a hell-of-a slump
Yo please some lies from that snake
See many terms are used to relate
I love the Pols with the big ol' pockets
But where i'm from they call 'em prophets
Pretty round wallets hangin' from the jeans
Even Obama keeps the country theme
So if you get it, got it, good
So dip the dug out
these flukes are turnin' out
Sing!!!

Go 'Bama, it's your birthday
Gonna potty like it's your birthday
Wright's gonna follow you until the E day

Wright did give him fancy feet

He'll be dancing on

And I'll tap tap tap my woes

Into those creaking keyboards
