Free Presentation on Veteran's Benefits is Offered
Veterans and surviving spouses are invited to a free presentation highlighting Veterans Aid and Attendance Pension on Friday, May 16 at 2 p.m.
The free talk is presented by Bill Fisher, a senior advocate who has spent the last 15 years advocating the need for accurate and verifiable information about financial aid programs for long term care.
Fisher will review the requirements for obtaining this benefit, the assets and income limits and the benefit amounts. In addition, Fisher will summarize a number of myths and misconceptions held by the public. He will also highlight the various legal alternatives to the depletion of assets and outline the many choices. Many who give out information about these types of programs only focus on one strategy and ignore all others, notes Fisher. I will explore many options for individuals to consider, he added.
Fisher has been an estate planner since the late 70s. His senior advocacy began in 1994 when one of his clients faced impoverishment while paying for the costs of her husbands care. Since that time, he spends about 60 hours each month sharing his knowledge and experience with various groups of retirees including CSEA, RPEA, NARFE, AARP as well as many Parkinsons and Alzheimers Support Groups throughout Southern California.
To RSVP for the presentation, call AlmaVia of Camarillo at 805-388-5277. AlmaVia is a non-profit assisted living and dementia care program sponsored by Elder Care Alliance. Visit the website at www.almavia.org.
