Art and music classes are offered by the city

The city of Port Hueneme, partnering with Art and Music Factory, will present classes for children as well as adults to learn how to play and read music. Art and Music Factory gives the community a place where people can learn to play an instrument as well as learn to paint and draw art pieces.

Art classes will be held Wednesdays, beginning May 7, with Tot Art from 3:30 to 4 p.m. for children ages 3 to 6. Cartooning will be from 4 to 5 p.m. for children 7 and older. Painting for Fun will be from 5 to 6 p.m. for children 7 and older.

Music classes will be held Mondays and Wednesdays. Starting Monday, Beginning Guitar for children ages 7 to 10 will be from 4 to 5 p.m., and for children ages 11 to 16, from 5 to 6 p.m. Beginning Family Guitar will be from 6 to 7 p.m. for those age 7 and older. This class is designed for parents who would like to learn to play guitar along with their child. Students should bring their own guitar.

Other classes offered are:

• Tot Music and Movement from 3:30 to 4 p.m. May 7 for children ages 3 to 5.

• Beginning Voice from 4 to 5 p.m. May 7 for children ages 6 to 10.

• Beginning Keyboard from 5 to 6 p.m. May 7 for children ages 7 to 11.

• Beginning Drums from 6 to 7 p.m. May 7 for children ages 10 to 16.

All classes will be at the Port Hueneme Community Center, 550 Park Ave.

Classes are $35 per person per class session. Registration will be accepted the first day of class. For more information or to pre-register, contact Gloria Barreto at 486-8700.
