CLU teaming up with college in Denmark

A new partnership between California Lutheran University and a business college in Denmark will allow Danish students to earn a tri-continental degree.

Under the agreement, students at Niels Brock Copenhagen Business College will study in China, then Denmark, and then at CLU in Thousand Oaks. They will earn bachelor's degrees from both Niels Brock and CLU. Chinese students also are involved in the agreement.

As part of the partnership, professors at both CLU and Niels Brock are working with students at each other's campus. CLU business professor Paul Williams recently lectured at Niels Brock. This summer, a Niels Brock professor plans to visit CLU to work with graduate students in business administration.

CLU also has partnerships with schools in Austria, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the Netherlands, Sweden and Tanzania.

5,500 customers lose power in T.O. after

More than 5,500 Southern California Edison customers in Thousand Oaks lost electricity Sunday night when an underground power cable failed, authorities said Monday.

A cable along Olsen Road just north of Erbes Road in Thousand Oaks failed at 7:03 p.m., cutting power to 5,587 Edison customers between Los Angeles Avenue and North Ranch Parkway and around California Lutheran University, said Rudy Gonzales, a regional manager for the utility.

All but 245 customers had power back by 11:47 p.m., Gonzales said. The remaining customers had power restored by 7:45 a.m. Monday, he said.
