Power back on in Thousand Oaks after outage

More than 5,500 Southern California Edison customers in Thousand Oaks lost electricity Sunday night when an underground power cable failed, authorities said.

A cable located on Olsen Road just north of Erbes Road in Thousand Oaks failed at 7:03 p.m., cutting power to 5,587 Edison customers between Los Angeles Avenue and North Ranch Parkway and around California Lutheran University, said Rudy Gonzales, a regional manager for the utility.

All but 245 customers had power back by 11:47 p.m., Gonzales said. The remaining customers had their electricity turned back on at 7:45 a.m. today.
