Moorpark College going for eighth straight title

More from Local CollegesThe Moorpark College men's track and field team will put its seven-time defending Western State Conference championship on the line today as the Raiders host the WSC Championships at Griffin Stadium.
Sophomore Daniel Wolverton brings in the conference's top time in the 100 meters (10.78 seconds). Other favorites include Moorpark's Kyle Elsea (men's high jump), Moorpark's Jimmie Pacifico (men's hammer throw) and Ventura's Leilani Howard (women's hammer throw).
Several local athletes already won WSC titles last week during the preliminaries at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo.
Oxnard sophomore Miguel Cisneros took yet another WSC title by winning the 10,000 in 31:54.44. Ventura freshman Nick Karam won the men's triple jump with a leap of 47 feet, 2 inches.
Moorpark freshman Jimmie Pacifico won the men's shot put with a toss of 56-1. Moorpark sophomore Colin Dunbar won the men's discus (149-5). Ventura sophomore Randi Hicks won the women's shot put with a toss of 35-5.
