Kyle Maxwell-Doherty toured with the nationally recognized Concordia College Band from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. The tour was Feb. 9-17.
He is the son of Scott and Melissa Maxwell-Doherty of Thousand Oaks.
Received scholarship
Mitra R. Tabidian of Simi Valley has earned the Dr. Ernest F. Getto Medical Scholarship and the Maureen McMurray Cowden Memorial Scholarship from the University of Kansas. Tabidian is majoring in medicine.
Selected for band
Bethany Stevens, a French hornist from Royal High School in Simi Valley, was selected through audition to be a participant in the 2008 California All-State Honor Bands. The All-State Honor Bands were held in conjunction with the California Band Directors Association annual convention in Fresno on Feb. 21-24.
Stevens is a member of Royal's wind ensemble band under the direction of John F. Best.
Earned degree
Brandon Elliott Brooks of Ventura and Drew Ignoto of Thousand Oaks earned degrees from the University of Iowa. The fall 2007 commencement ceremonies took place Dec. 20-21.
Brooks earned a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering.
Ignoto earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering.
Named to dean's list
Clifford Anton Cermak was named to the dean's list at Wingate University in North Carolina.
He is the son of Frank A. and Brigid Cermak of Ventura.
Nicholas Cosenza of Moorpark and Caitlin Smith of Simi Valley were named to the fall 2007 dean's list at American University in Washington, D.C.
Cosenza, a junior, and Smith, a sophomore, are both students in the School of Public Affairs, majoring in political science.
