A teen youth group from Temple Beth Torah in Ventura has organized a fundraiser and evening of activities to raise awareness about genocide in Darfur, Sudan.
A speaker from Jewish World Watch will deliver a multimedia presentation Saturday night at the temple, followed by a fashion show fundraiser. There also will be petitions to sign, opportunities to write postcards to legislators and "Save Darfur" clothing to purchase.
The benefit by Ventura County Temple Reform Youth is free and open to the public. It will be from 7 to 10 p.m. at Temple Beth Torah, 7620 Foothill Road.
The event is semi-formal, and appetizers and desserts will be served. All proceeds will go to the nonprofit organization Doctors Without Borders. For more information, contact Gabby Sharaga at 794-5174 or Lauren Weiner at 901-7893.
