Lowry has MRI after 'tingling'

San Francisco Giants left-hander Noah Lowry had an MRI Monday after feeling a tingling sensation in his injured forearm.

Lowry, a Nordhoff High graduate, had planned to throw off the mound for the first time since his surgery six weeks ago, but scrapped that plan in favor of the exam.

Sheets to be skipped in rotation: Brewers ace Ben Sheets will skip his start on Wednesday because of soreness in his right triceps that caused him to leave his last start.

Sheets will be replaced in the rotation by Dave Bush.

A-Rod has mild strain: Alex Rodriguez has a mild strain of his right quadriceps and will rejoin the New York Yankees today in Chicago.

Rodriguez was injured Sunday in New York's 7-1 win at Baltimore. He will be evaluated again today.

Reds add Hairston, designate Castro: Trying to add another bat, the Cincinnati Reds promoted infielder-outfielder Jerry Hairston Jr. and designated infielder Juan Castro for assignment.
