Faulty electrical wiring in a doorbell caused a fire that damaged a Ventura residence early this morning, authorities said.

Ventura City firefighters extinguished the fire about 10 minutes after it was reported in a four-unit complex in 200 block of S. Kalorama Street at 2:17 a.m., according to a prepared statement from the Ventura City Fire Department.
